I would not say that "Classic rock is the best music on modern Times" for two reasons. First of all this statements devalues classic rock (by your definition 60-80s) by adding "modern times" as time limit-frame. Like in 90s, 2000s or in future classic rock will not be "best music". Second praising one music style over other only reflects musical ignorance. I will not start to argue what was the golden age of rock as musical history is not my strong side. But I will take on the argument that there is no best nor superior style. We can speak of periods where one style was more popular, had its peak, development-growth period etc - but that does not make it better in essence. Everything we feel is pretty much subjective, but there is quite a lot misinformation and ignorance about music styles and especially regarding pop.
I do not understand people who listen merely one style. Its called being stuck on repetition - and in psychology referred to lower pleasure addiction. I do not argue having likes over others. But praising one style to be superior by listening only the tip of the iceberg on one style is not exactly the strong argument. Other topic is around music vides! Is video secondary or primary? Too often nowadays it is primary, and music secondary. Therefore many artists do not in my standards even qualify in field of music.
The biggest misinformation is around pop-music? What does it mean. Do we speak of general popular music or the style of pop music? Two totally different things. Although they generally tend to overlap. Pop in 60s-80s was as big hit as rock. Most people just do not know who were pop who rock genre and tend to label it under rock. While saying pop was shit like it is nowadays. Pop by genre is not crap, nor rock. The popular music made despite genre is simplistic, catchy and what matters it works. That I do not like it wont call it poor. And the saying that nowadays music is crap and in old days it was not? Its pure false thinking. The crap music just goes forgotten, so does modern crap in future! The poor quality of music and its rise is not problem of genre, but current state of things. The commercialisation of music industry, enormous label companies. If average persons source if information is news, MTV, youtube-vevo etc... one will never find true underground-indie music and will believe everything is crap and the tenths before were much better.
The difference I make in music is: a music and the music!
The music is something I value, i feel it has more to offer, is unique, artistic, different. It does not depend on style. Range from metal to classic, rap to electronic and everything between. The key factor is how it is done, who represents, what he is trying to say, why etc. Its the music you listen and you think what you listen, feel it. You never get enough of it, even in 10 years time. And this type of music for me is MUST HAVE FLAC! There is a difference and enormous.
And there is A music. Something I just listen, I like, but I do not value it, because it is either copied, no message, aka just noise like radio offers. Music you listen doing other activities, after the catch period forget and dont care about. This type of music mostly do not support FLAC, because they are mainstream, can´t produce pure analog music - too much mixboards and hyped bass. And listeners does not yearn for it.
Generally all popular artists, songs go under a music for me.
Something underrated, new, good and interesting that desperately needs audience and all is 2007+
