true, but he was already mindfucked at that point as he wasted too much troops in order to conquer China while I was able to expand my income (which was inferior than his) elsewhere. Additionally, this provoked him to "chase" me, which turned to be even more costy for him 8]

Second is, it might not amount to much if he chooses to expand into East China himself, stacking into Hong Kong

yup, that was his second bad decision. Perhaps he was afraid that I am going to outmaneuver him via nort China/ Mongolia

I was already losing the game by this point, and I was considering stalling (not something I normally do). I had no idea how long I would want to stall, so, turn 10, behind my opponent's line of sight:

I take a wasteland in East Russia;

I blockade the territory I just left with 1 army (the territory had been in distribution turn 0, so it looks exactly like it did in the beginning)

And then I would just sit there while he would be forced to figure it out, taking most of the map before finding me; the result;
