Clan might have people you like, bur virtually none of them are good players in regards to strategy.

Just out of curiosity, I'm curious about what everyone's definition of a "good player" is. I presume your standards are much higher if you've taken top 10 on one of the 1v1 ladders (not that that's a bad thing- perhaps this site as a whole is really just full of horrible players, as skill distributions tend to be skewed toward high performance and have significantly more people 1 SD below mean skill than 1 SD above, contrary to Elo's expectations).

Edit: also, is Scorched Earth the same person as Idiot Savant and Purple Illusions?

knyte: Idiot Savant is a dickhead (I almost blacklisted him)- as he didn't give any useful advice on my first forum I made (https://www.warlight.net/Forum/99097-good-1v1-strategies#)- while Purple Illusions gave me a tip in a game I lost against him. So I would say that those three aren't the same people. Purple Illusions is also in my clan so there could be a case of main, clanned account and a main alt and then another low level alt, but again I highly doubt that

Idiot Savant is an openly acknowledged alt of Purple Illusions (apparently the only good player from some random flyover state- Michigan, iirc, but could be New Jersey or some other member of the set not-Texas). He's pretty blunt when it comes to strategy and not unwilling to call out bad play. He's also a pretty good player. Scorched Earth seems to behave the same way, and I know PI has at least 4 accounts with a lifetime membership, so that's why I was wondering.

People often also behave differently on their alts. Given how some people even treat their alts as different people, sometimes I suspect this entire site is just me and alts of the player behind FK.

Interesting! I never knew that PI and Idiot Savant were two accounts run by one person, really I should've read your edit bit better (I've never seen Idiot Savant or PI openly acknowledge it). But 4 lifetime membership accounts must mean the guy has a lot of money to spend on WL.
