Yeah, apparently it's a big deal. Personally, I haven't heard of this creature until after he was illegally shot and killed by a Minnesota dentist. Now everybody is sending him death threats for killing a lion wanting him to die for killing a lion and every news station is painting him in a bad picture for killing a lion, etc. While I don't agree with hunting simply for the thrill, I have to ask, did the dentist really even know he was committing a crime by killing Cecil right then and there? Honestly, I didn't even know Zimbabwe banned big game hunting until this case came out. I think that the dentist's guide was aware of everything and let the dentist do it, anyway. It doesn't change the fact that the dude killed him illegally, but if he was completely unaware, then maybe he should just pay a hefty fine or something?

Here's how I see it, this is purely my opinion.......I don't care......In Zimbabwe you are allowed to kill lions if you have the proper license. I'm ok with this because Zimbabwe can make its own regulations and laws. Do I agree with people doing so for fun, no not at all. If it were purely because they needed the meat to survive maybe sure go ahead but if you just did it to hang it as trophy in your house. Then no, I hope you die.

But here's the reality over it. The Dentist didn't have the proper permits and killed an animal that was sacred to the community. I think that the country should properly put him to justice in Zimbabwe and that's it.

The thing that gets in my nerves is that i think that the internet is stupid at times...I find it disgusting that people are sending him death threats and showing his personal information(address, social security numbers, Phone number, etc.). Yes I understand that he didn't do the right thing. I can see that people are rightfully angry and if they want they can protest but the internet just took it a step further and the media exaggerated this subject, causing more violence which would never solve the situation and will only show how less of a human being you are and how worthless you are in this earth.

Where was everyone 4 months ago when lions were dying? Why is it all of a sudden important? Where was the media back then? I just find it sad that the internet will forget about this and move on to the next thing next week. "oh, Foxes are being killed in asia" while lions are still dying in Africa at the same moment.

The dude probably has a small dick or something and wanted to make him self feel like he was the big man on the totem poll.

But he's from Minnesota, they don't have gangs, Veterans, or anything tough like Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, or Ohio do.

Personally, to me, the Lion is just a goddamn Lion. Did he have reason to kill the Lion? Fuck no. But is it SUCH a big goddamn deal? Africa. It is fucking AFRICA! 3/4 of that fucking continent is filled with crazed Warlords, Slavers, or spill overs from ISIS. The other 1/4 is either a tourist trap or a huge ass national park with shit we only see in Zoos over here in the oh-so-bad Western God known as the United States of America.

Bottom line, pussy Dentist killed a Lion. Lion wasn't able to protect himself. Had the Lion been free and prepared for a fight, we'd be hearing about a poor Minnesota Dentist who got turned into Clam-fucking-Chowder by Cecil the Lion.

I don't see the issue. The only way people learn anything is by taking away their toys, in this case, lions.

So go ahead, kill all the f*ck'ing lions, then feel all the more stupid when the lions are dead.

Also : We don't hear any sh*t about endangered snowy owls. Polar bears? Nope. How about Hooded Seals and Blue Whales? Where is the anguish over the bald eagle?

The solution is to not give a f*ck. If you try to mend the situation or work to prevent it nobody learns anything.

Overreacting at it's finest. I swear that the general U.S public does not respond with a level-head to anything. Every controversy is met with a vigilante lynch mob that seeks to utterly ruin the life of whoever they're after in every possible fashion.

Was this guy a jerk for shooting the lion? Yes. Should he be punished? Yes. However, punishments need to be proportional to the crime. He shot a lion, not a person. All these death threats are completely left field. Slap this guy with a fine, take his guns away, maybe give some limited jail time. Anything more severe than that is too extreme.
