The first game with local deployment on warlight.

http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TournamentID=6314

The first tournament with local deployment.

It is unlocked at level 49, and dreuj is the only person so far who has unlocked it on the site.

Some people have said it will probably be used for the next seasonal ladder.

what are other people's views on this?

nice feature, but i think it shouldn't be used for the next seasonal ladder as not many people can really test it within next few days.

Learning on the job...or in this case during gameplay :D

I think it'd be a great idea, however little weight my opinion might carry ;P

Why does it matter if people can test it or not. i think it would be great as the next seasons ladder

i think it would be quite interesting with no base income

That is actually a great suggestion Mac, but then you would need to make sure starting territories have enough troops to get a bonus in the first place, hard to make it work strategically well I think.

Also it is better if people can't practise for the ladder, more interesting matches :D

In general you are right. But in this situation some people can play it earlier and the rest can't do it. It will be simply uneven.

You do have a point, but anyway people can ask high level players (dreuj, timi and brisk) to make 1v1s with them to help practise

Local deployments is a game setting that changes the way that armies may be deployed. When enabled by a game creator, armies that are earned from a bonus may only be deployed to the territories within that bonus.
Armies earned by other methods, such as base armies per turn, reinforcement cards, extra armies for territories, or negative sanction cards, are called "free armies" and can be deployed anywhere.
When your income is reduced (by, for example, negative bonuses, army cap, or sanction cards), the reduction in income will be spread out amongst all deployment options evenly. For example, if you have a bonus worth 3 armies per turn, 5 base armies per turn, and a bonus worth -2, the -2 will take one away from the 3 bonus armies and one away from the 5 free armies.
This setting cannot be used with overlapping bonuses, such as super bonuses. If you want to use this setting on a map that has overlapping bonuses, you must override one of each overlapping bonuses to 0 or negative, so that no territories belong to multiple positive bonuses.

Same :) I have no idea how to farm though without doing long Earth games or changed killrates.

I am really looking forward to this setting a lot. I think it has TONS of uses in rp style games. I also really want to use it on my Succession Wars map. I might wait to set that to public until I can unlock the setting, that way I can set up the custom scenario to use it.

Local deployment is an interesting setting indeed. It can help get the "Dense" achievement... But besides achievements, it also looks like a good defensive option in multi-attack games. So, in fact, I think local deployment should be available from start, while multi-attack should be unlocked at such a high level.

"What's the point of defending against something that might not exist?" many of you will ask. "Well, it's better to be ready for something that doesn't exist, than have this something exist and still be unprepared." is my answer. Anyone thinking like "It's fun attacking someone who is unable to defend" needs to have this thing work against him, just to see the other side of the coin. Starts to sound bad, eh? Well, it will feel bad that moment, but if you handle it right, you 'll become a better person, and most likely a better player as well.

Since though someone around here doesn't care much about personalities, I most clearly see a bunch of measures coming to stop this from happening to certain players. Though shutting up criticism won't help long-term. No matter how some people love to sell face, there also is a fair share of serious players who just want to help improve the game. And sadly, you can't tell how serious a player is by just looking at achievements or how many games he/she has won. Just saying this because I know players who win a lot but love to sell face, as if they win once a year. They act like a small football team that beats with 2-1 a larger team, this being the first victory after like 30 years for the small team. Is this a suitable behaviour for players that win a lot? Someone please take care of that issue, before the community gets full of small-team-mentality players...

Pilota what are you talking about?
Local deployment was not made to be used with multi-track, you can use them both if you want but they weren't specifically designed for that reason.
And there is no point comparing some players on warlight to small football teams, there is no comparison since the games are so different, as are results of wins, importance of games, financial side etc.

He wasn't comparing anything about the game itself (or it's material gains). He was comparing their mentality (correctly in some cases :P)

Thank you, General. What's more, not all football consists of ultra-rich playboys such as Messi and Ronaldo... The real thing is in fact on the women's side, where the money is a lot less, but it's spent a lot more wisely, in favour of the sport's level, therefore their football is better than ours. Men's football isn't football anymore, even at the least-shown leagues. Women though hold the flag high and we must pay respect to them for this.

To return to WarLight, I was indeed comparing mentalities, nothing else. Anyone not liking the example I gave, make your complaints to the mayor. Thanks.

unfortunately local deployments cannot be auto deployed in maps with 1 bonus per territory like "world nations",

i would like to have a feature called "permanent orders", where you can make a list of orders qwhci are automatically added to your orders each turn, this would help a lot if you have a 100-terries empire and dont want to make all deployments and transfers over and over again....
