The example game runs much longer than a comparable 1v1 ladder game. Eliminating the other player from an area and breaking bonuses are much more difficult and essentially rely on a supply chain. Which is really cool. Just not in a seasonal ladder scenario, as it would be a lot harder to complete all your games.

Putting airlifts will just take away a key strategic element of where you can deploy.Perhaps 1 or 2 airlift for the whole game.

I think move order plays a significant role, regardless of the local deployment setting. While I still was an offline-only player (with no account), on my first days I stepped on a lot of banana skins due to that thing, although it normally sounds very unlikely. Leaving a hole even for just one move of a turn can be destructive. I don't know why you guys underestimate move order so much...

LD Airlifts.... Maybe limit the number of armies that can be airlifted, either to a set value, your income, or to the value of the (multiple of the) bonus your're lifting into, regardless of if you own it or not.

Well, to make it less complicated, let's not allow airlifts in local deployment games. Let's not make defending more difficult than it already is...

Have you even played with the LD settings? Defending a bonus is much easier, because you deploy your base income plus the 3+ from the bonus and the attacker can only place base income. In the seasonal settings this means that without reinforcements from a nearby bonus an attack is destined to fail if it is not sucessful straight away.
Airlifts are a horrible idea, what is wrong with you people?

Airlifts can just as easily be used to send a stack to attack(break bonus) with the turn after.

My problem with local deployments is that, at least in the games I've played, the turns take longer and there are more turns in a game. I'm all for shorter games without a lot of standardised attacks/transfers (e.g. expanding into neutrals, transferring armies) otherwise I get bored. It's for this reason that I don't play many large maps and it is for this reason why I don't like to play much local deployment.
I think light fog is good to use with local deployment because it shortens the time it takes someone to surrender and shortens the game. However, light fog destroys much of the game that I enjoy.

I haven't played any local deployment games yet, but I do have an idea of how it works. It is a bit easier to defend in LD games, still though the principle of "defence being the hard job" is 100% valid, and with airlifts on it becomes even harder, exactly because nobody will be able to defend against a big airlift. Let's see a theoretical example.
Player A owns all of bonus A, while player B owns all of bonus B, and the two bonuses are next to each other. The two players have identical total income and the two bonuses are worth the same number of armies. Player A airlifts like 2000 armies right next to Player's B 500-army stack. How will Player B defend with 500something armies against 2000+? Can someone answer this for me? I think this is the moment when Player B thinks "Why did I join an LD game with airlift cards?"...

That is true. The reverse is that playing the airlift card breaks that players supply chain. Not a big disadvantage compared to the advantage to the player using the card. But it is something.
The best way to play the card imo would be from a territory bordering other bonuses that you own. Maximizing the armies you can deploy to that area.

I like Pooh's idea that the number of airlifted armies should be limited.

[REGL]*hedja*{CS} you have very bad sense, if someone chooses to do an airlift of that size at cost of other bonuses, it means that the bonus they will attempt to break is way more important than the ones they may leave at risk. What's more, it's not so standard that they 'll have to leave any bonuses at risk. It is possible, but not standard.
So you basically insulted me with ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. With whatever this could mean. I will try and make sure that you will face the consequences.

Pulsey, your irony is aimless. I never pretended to be someone special. In fact, I think that everyone should react like this against unreasonable insults. Try to come to my position... Try to imagine that someone insults you for no reason. How would you react?
Or better ask... Would you react at all?

I wouldn't react atll.
Perhaps I would react if it was a personal insult, but here, this insult was about gameplay, if it was even an insult at all.
Honestly, i think Hedja is correct here.
If you cant take an insult about having bad sense at a game, you have problems.

You can airlift defenders against that stack that just got airlifted in .....
Maybe killrates can be adjusted, 50%/50% or 70%/80% or just 65%/70%
