So I was playing an Auto-game, A level 4 Newbie. He was nice and sincere as anyone new to a site would be.

He was very down on himself "I suck"

Now atleast once in a Warlighters account, You should take time off to help people.

https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9374757 = Read the chatlog.

I'm not asking people to be full on Teachers of the game. We are a community and we have to put our time share to help newbies.

I'm not giving a guide on how to do this It's out of the point.. If you do read the chatlog.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am 100% being honest here. DarkLords has the future of Warlight. They have the next-generation. We have got to stop giving them crap. I have to change my ways and so do we.. They might be 400 members and sure.. They have 20% not active.. But how about our clans? We all have our 20% not active. Yet we don't get the crap. DarkLords Function can be the catalyst for Players growth. If DarkLords doesn't want to serve this function fine. I will personally buy an clan when I can for this function. Darklords can be given this function and be well-respected of this. Because any clan that gives a function to help a game should be rewarded.
DarkLord does have wonderful people and these are the people newbies can learn off and grow and become stronger by learning the game mechanics and so on... To give that tournament experience and most importantly that valuable points.. That makes you valuable and makes you want to come back. To add that +1 Decent player.. To add that +1.. #1 Ladder player. To add that #1 Troll who makes our hearts glow..

All back the DarkLords..

I wonder if Darklords will accept this call... If they do... By accepting this player https://www.warlight.net/Profile?p=6953751114 into their clan.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some speech :D....... Now what We've been all missing out here is on ourselves.. We aren't thinking at all about the newbies!

My Question is Why is it Possible for a Newbie to play against a player from Lynx/WG/ Insert good clan here in auto-game Very unlikely but Possible!

Why? Should Newbies play against these high-skilled players? Where the newbie is struggling with the controls as we all were at one stage..

That is why we need a newbie Auto-game. There is no if but or what the fuck.. ABout it.

This needs to be implanted now because I can already promise as we debate people are leaving this game because they see such a huge-skill gap where they don't even know how to function the game they leave straight away. Who wants to lose their way to level 52? Like we all did? When we started off.

This is why I've Uservoiced this idea.

Newbie Auto-games.

Between Levels 1-15 A player can compete in this special match.

To participate you must be level 1-15!

Also no luck! We don't need 16% luck.. 0% luck is so much easier to learn as it says (3 kills 2) which makes it so much simpler! Please!

Vote 3 for WarLight...

Double post?

Edit:

Even though newbs generally need to practice a bit on single player first before joining multiplayer.
it does help.

They have 20% not active

Its accually 44,06% :p. Not to say that some other clans also have serious inactivity problems.

That is why we need a newbie Auto-game.

I recall there being a autogame called "welcome newbies". It disappeared after a time. It might still be there, we just can`t see it. I don`t see a reason for Fizzer to get rid of them.

Why? Should Newbies play against these high-skilled players? Where the newbie is struggling with the controls as we all were at one stage..

This has happened in pretty much every game I have ever played.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it is more helpfull to analyse the game with him and give him simple tips such as when to expand, what kind of attacks to do, how the cards work and picks (both how they work and how to pick) than to redirect them a clan that might help them. Why not help them yourself?

the problem with that, is that there is no incentive to help noobs, except for the few players that wish to win so badly that are ready to dedicate time and patience to help their team m8.

I do help a lot of noobs to learn the ropes with my practice games but this is not something a few players can handle.

We need a more official way of handling this issue.

I think the Welcome Newbies matches can only be played by people whose accounts are less than 30 days old, that's why you may not see it.

Other than that I think that there should be a new clan made which is dedicated to helping newbies. For example have 10-15 good players (in the clan) and have those good players post on the forums/play Strat 1v1's or team games with the newbies (via invites) and take them into the clan for clan tournaments or further tutoring

This is a bold statement here. I believe this thread will not be seeing many replies concerning this portion of the topic.

Yeah, I remember seeing that too. I'm pretty sure we just can't see it. Besides, we could create those games ourselves if we wanted to right?

Yep.
We need a more official way of handling this issue.

I like to call it single player. However most newbies aren't really patient enough to play though sufficient amounts of single-player to ready themselves for battle, and understandably so, because some single player games regardless of settings just drag on and on.

Alright, think about this for a moment. If we were to create an auto-game, if it doesn't exist already, that only allows newbies, how are these players going to get any better? The only reason mid-level players like me are getting any better is because we're playing against the greats and learning from them. If a bunch of newbies play against each other, all with bad habits and a poor understanding of general strategy, I don't think such a newbies-only game is gonna be much help- except to keep them from getting down on themselves when getting absolutely smashed by a high level player, which is an issue in itself, which is why I don't actually think we should get rid of the newbies only game.
I agree that a clan geared towards these players would be the most helpful. It's great if you think the Darklords could serve this function, but I don't think they will. I guess their willingness to accept virtually anybody currently makes them the most qualified for this function. But we need a clan that is specifically welcoming to beginners and is actively wanting to help them.

EDIT: Wait, the welcome newbies game is for accounts less than 30 days old? That's kinda bullshit for people who create an account, play some single player or do some multiplayer with, like, a friend or something, forget about the game and come back a month later to find that their only options for playing multiplayer are against high level players.

Or you could help people if they ask what they did wrong in 1v1`s. Or if they start saying things like "I suck" you can offer to help them.

Other than that I think that there should be a new clan made which is dedicated to helping newbies.

Most clans are willing to help unexperienced players, but not a lot of clans are willing to take new players into the clan as they are unpredictable and might not stay for long.

his is not something a few players can handle

True

If a bunch of newbies play against each other, all with bad habits and a poor understanding of general strategy, I don't think such a newbies-only game is gonna be much help

Very true. By playing against bad people you won`t improve. Although they can learn the very basics because of it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We should make a tutorial on the YouTubes or something which explains every card and lots of basics of the game, that might help, but then WL itself needs to promote it, else new players are still not going to find it.

There are also quite some guides to help people improve, although some of the guides require a certain understanding of the game already. Once again the problem is that these guide will not reach newer players.

As a near noob myself, when I feel like playing Warlight against people I don't know, I think, "no, I'll have no chance", there is little to no incentive for me, and newer players to play those types of games, and are more likely to only play Warlight on occasion with friends, on a select few maps, mainly because they stay in their comfort zone, e.g, I can't leave Modern Europe.

Right now, newer players aren't taught how to play the game at a higher level, and are consistently stuck on the same level, and don't want to go any further, and why should they, they want to enjoy the game, not get beaten by players who knows the maps better than them, and the game play mechanics, it is just much more fun for them, and myself, to play in a group of friends a lot, because we excel there, because we know what we are doing.

In a different game I used to run a clan called "n00b" which was specifically for new players and players who just wanted to play for fun. There were no clans like that when I started playing and all the clans were very elitist, so there were a lot of noobs with nowhere to go. When I left as leader we were at 1000 members and we also had our fair share of skilled players who mostly just wanted to play in a low stress environment. Getting to know and help random new players could often be rewarding enough in itself too.

I don't have much energy anymore due to illness so I can't do anything like that here. That's the reason I stopped running that clan. But if there is a clan like this here, or if there is one planning to start up I am more than happy to contribute as a member, I just can't help in the management. I can help with funding it though if needs be.

If you want to contact me send a PM, I'm terrible at following threads I'm in :P

I think a more realistic idea is to have sister clans that train talented noobs.

Thus the elite maintain an elite clan while still have the possibility to assist and help their sister clan.
If a noob becomes a good player he has the chance of joining the actual clan.
It also improves relations between clan members.

I don't know whether you have accepted one of the countless invites darklords have no doubt sent you but each time I have, I've seen very little in the way of promoting activity or teaching clan members. Why do you think sending new players there is going to make them more likely to not leave warlight?

A newbies only auto game is something I could support. I would also like to see a better single player tutorial. The help tab and wiki for the most part cover game mechanics and basic strategy but I wonder how often new players read that stuff. Perhaps video tutorials as Min suggested would make them more likely to.

Also no luck! We don't need 16% luck.. 0% luck is so much easier to learn as it says (3 kills 2) which makes it so much simpler! Please!

You are confusing luck modifier with rounding mode. 3 always kills 2 in 16% sr but doesn't in 0% wr.

Nothing really happens in the clan, as far as I know. When I got my invite as, like, a level 20 I was like "OMG An awesome ginormous clan WANTS ME TO JOIN BITCHES" but I quickly figured them out and yeah....
But I guess they make new players feel a bit more welcome in the community. So that can help them not leave warlight, in a way.

I'm still calling for a noob-training-thing clan.
