I have everything needed to make one. I want it about 600 territories. This will be my first map. I want to make it real world.

I suggest choosing a region who's history interests you, and then selecting a timeperiod. let it be noted that from about 400 AD to 1000 AD, it's almost impossible to find fully detailed reference maps.

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do you make a map?

I would not recommend a first map of 600 territories. Instead fool around a bit and make a small map, to see how mapmaking works.

I'd recommend doing Tribes of Gaul. Those are pretty well documented, and it shouldn't be difficult to find map sources.

maybe a WW1 front (western or eastern )

Try Napoleon or Macedonian empire(Alexander the great)

Desert and Metatron, both of those have already been done, and Kretoma zxc JUST did that.

Ghengis has a good idea; too many WWI and WWII maps in my opinion. If you are looking for an accurate map, that should help :

The play-ability of these maps needs to be considered as well. Gaul, the World in the year 950 and the Old World all fit this, but something like the Empire of Charles V or the Napoleonic Empire may not be so good when, at least for diplomacy games, which is normally what historical maps are used for.

It all depends on the level of imagination one has.
