Hello fellow warlighters.
Apart from playing tournaments and games that go for skills, every now and then i like a game of RPG and/or Diplomacy. The biggest problem with the later is usually, that there are powers which dominate to much and especially in open games, it happens to fast that smaller players shy away from conflict with the big powers while they grow and in the worse case, even make an alliance togther.

With that at the back of my head, i started to think about what would be nessecary for a balanced Diplomacy map and came to the conclusion, that it would be almost impossible to do with the a scenario on the maps i have seen so far.

Therefore:
I present "The Continent of Qua-Hana"

Picture with the standart starting situation: http://s14.directupload.net/images/130906/oykrrkro.png
Link to map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=24249

About the map:
- The map is set up for 12 players.
- In the standart setup every player has an income of 40 + Base income.
- Every starting bonus has 9 territories facing the enemy.
- Every player has borders to 3 other players.
- Every big bonus consists of 26 territories with:
1 x +5 income
2 x +3 income
2 x +2 income
21x +1 income
- Big bonus is worth 4

Of course there are still some small imbalances with the way the territories are position throughout the bonuses and such, but its in a very managable margin i believe.

A bit about the map making process i automated (Iam not very patient with such things ;)) and therefore might be prone to error. This includes the bigger part of naming the territories via generated names and random distribution of those names. (The scripts i used are written in AutoIt which mostly generated mouseclicks and keyboard input for me. Havent worked with Phyton and this was at hand.)

To wrap this up now, i need some map testers to make sure that territories connect correctly and that the balance is really there.

For those non members who like diplomacy games: With the "Diplomacy" Distribution and no limit to territories distributed to the players, everyone who can open a game with 12 players should be able to create a game with diplomacy settings.

If Fizzer reads this: I reaaaally would like to have the option to test maps with open seats. The game could be made a pratice game and have the standart maptest message. Would make it much easier to get a big amount of feedback for the maps you make.

Have a great day everyone
Lord Syvedyas

You can actually make test games with open seats:

1. Make a test game, put yourself and player x.y. in that game.
2. Go to Add/Remove player
3. Remove player x.y.
4. Put open seats.

x.y. = any player

I would like to test this too! The system of differently valued cities in combination with superbonuses is new I think.

that's a good idea, single bonusses on single territories with a superbonus.

I better use this idea on my African Nations map.

Nice map.

I don't think you want to make a game with open seats as test, since you realy have no idea who will join, most players responding here would give you feedback in a game.
