@Knyte
I'm unintentionally stalling a lot of games right now because I've got to figure out some really complicated things in the next few days.
Isn´t it a bit ironic that you find time to read/write in forum (even if it would be the only really "important" thread you follow), but can´t make it to the games? Yes I understand not all games are 1-5 minute to commit, but still you should get my point at least in that part you found time to open forum instead check the game! I would guess it should come down to priorities and respect towards the players, which should come first and before the Forum!
@Des
Is it considered stalling if a family member just died?
Well as you already took it up. Would you give a 2 S**** about Warlight if that happens? Even if it would be Coin game (This is the part where you make up your price and insert). Why would you hold the game in halt for others, they are not the blame nor cause?
Seasonal Ladder regarding the Time period it is open: 60-days. The vacations could be shortened. Although stalling like that, it is not that common, isn´t it? And having one game in halt will not hamper the other 19 games anyhow. Plus I do not see being it beneficial for the "alleged staller" taking vacations as one game gets added every 4 days. He could stall the last games of seasonal ladder to score via the Formula.
As discussed in the other linked thread by iNsAnE the problem is people quitting/surrendering early or mid-term - which affects the ratings. Should people be forced. We all accept the unecpected circumstances - do not take the Vacation as holiday in every case. Most of us study/work. Student may find himself stuck on semester or unexpected work-overload etc, that no-one could have forseen. I do think you should force people to finish as in this case they just end up getting booted. Also preventing them from joining next one is rather harsh.
Peixoto suggested adding RR-system (Reliability Rating) for the S-Ladder, so reliable players could be matched before meeting the newcomers in pairing in the other thread.
Definately not the best solution, but maybe if player X would draw from ladder, but has previous ladder ratings the sum of these could be used or position to get relative data + regarding his current ladder performance somehow mixed into it. The only remaining question would be what to do with newcomers. Someone with higher math skills could maybe come up with deviation of a kind or just treat the quitters as average-ratings.
