Hi community,

I've been playing Warlight for a while now, pretty much exclusively real-time and non-coin games but I think I'm doing OK judging by my win rates.

I want to step things up a level and play a bit more competitively but I'm not sure the best way to do it. I know there are leagues and tournaments around but not sure how they all work. Can you enter tournies that are real-time and non-coin? Also, I prefer games with several people playing rather than 1v1's but seems as though 1v1 is the purest form of competition so would be open to that too.

Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Riko

Join the 1v1, the real time ladder is good too, when you feel comfortable with that consider joining one of the many player created leagues :)

1v1s are the most popular format here, but there is a 2v2 ladder, and there are a lot of tournaments that have teams :)

You can't join the ladders until you're at a higher level unless you buy a membership. I think it's 45 for the Real-Time ladder and 50 for the 1v1 ladder. In the meantime, you can join some of the leagues that are currently running. Here are two that I know of that anyone can join:

Joining a clan may be a good way to find people who are online and get reliable opponents

I suggest finding a clan that will suit your interests. take a look at our clan page and read their Bios and then message on of their managers.

The Juggernauts are trying to start up as a teaching clan, and we'd be happy to take you in, and help you improve your game. While I'm announcing, we'd also like a few pros willing to come in and teach classes.

EDIT: If interested, PM me or post in this thread.

Yeah, I suggest a few things:

1) look at ladder games of top players, see what they are doing better than you

2) Join custom leagues. Promotion league (run by Frank). World Series of Warlight (run by Ineffable). Clan league (if you join a clan)

3) Join a clan. Find a clan that cares about being competitive, but that isn't significantly better than you in skill. Since you have no games listed on your profile, it would be hard for me to judge your skill level.

4) play random game with someone decent and ask for advice. I don't have time to play any, but if you mail me a couple games of yours I can look quick and give you pointers.

I recommend to start with getting your bootrate under 15-20%.

No way me or any other skilled player is gonna play you.

Agreed. You need to get that under %10 ASAP.
