This thread is pretty simple, just tell us two things. What point in world history interests you most, and what point in your nation's history interests you most.

For me, the most interesting part in world history is during the time of the Roman Empire. Rome was one of the few empires which really changed the course of history, for better or worse.

As for U.S History, I've always been fascinated by the Civil War, and the general timeframe before and after.

World History is easily the Greko-Persian Wars, the Second Punic War and everything in between. It's civilization in this raw, uncut form. Your family's reputation, your honor and your success were all so intertwined, and always on the edge. So much critical history happened in this Era (across the world, mind you) that if one were to go back in time and change something, this would the best Era to alter in.

As for national history, Poland under Casimir III is just awesome. They made him OP in Civ 5, which is historically correct by all means.

I like the old times before guns and such. Those wars intrigue me the most.

I agree with you fully on the American Civil War.

Hey Genghis! I tried making a Greco-Persian was team game custom scenario, but it never really worked out. I'm also very interested in that point of history! Do you want to help me make one? :3

My favourite point in world history although, is the Dark Ages. It's a prime example, showing how Islam can actually flourish, and be the centre of world innovation, for a long period of time, while united. The Dark Ages were only Dark for the Christian states, that decided to write very few records.

My favourite point about my own country, was of course The Battle of Bannockburn, and the other Scottish Wars of Independence.

At the time, it was not the middle east. It was just the East. Middle East is a misnomer anyway.

Btw during that period (1000 BC) there were no East, only middle, the center of the civilized world was the middle east, other peripherical lands excepted China and India were uncivilized populated by cavemen.

I have interests in the eras leading from the the time of Alexander's Empire to the Medieval time period. I don't really care for history beyond that until the cold war.

As for my favorite time of my nations history, I like learning about the Cold War era. It is actually a good point in history to witness world leaders who had enough common sense to not kill us all.

World History: 1890-1960ish, or the first half of the twentieth century

National History: Canadian national history is boring, so I'll go with British in general, and I like the 19th century at the height of British power.

"Do I care" and "I don't give a f***" and similar variations are I bet most said when folk do care. Since if folk don't care, why would they need to say this?

History must be a miserable subject for you if all you do is focus on and get offended by the bad things that people did.

"Do I care" and "I don't give a f***" and similar variations are I bet most said when folk do care. Since if folk don't care, why would they need to say this?

In order to get the last word in, of course.
