Those possibilities are no different with cyclic than with random. Cyclic doesn't impact order within a turn, only going from turn to turn, so I don't really understand your question.

yes it is. only who get's FIRST move/pick is changing every turn. after first move, the orders or possible pick combinations are the same

I prefer a more humble approach, so I often go for that 8 income by the end of turn 2, just to keep it safe.
Then I improvise. Improvise is the key to win.

Depends on what board you get really. Some boards might have an FTB (+3,+4 or even +5), some might give you 11 income on turn 2, some might have limited expansion.

In terms of income, it's usually possible to get 16 income on turn 3 without any combos, take two +3 bonuses and one +5, you will be able to complete both +3s by turn 2 (assuming you can use your leftovers), and then the +5 the next turn.

The problem with this strategy is that you need to use all your income for the first three turns to complete the bonuses, so this strategy would be quite weak if you run into the opponent early (it will take a long time to complete the +5 without full deployment, and if the opponent has a +4 they might complete it first, causing you to lose).

I think there are definitely more viable options for picking now that the ladder settings have changed, previously it would be suicide to pick a +5 without a combo, whereas now only East China would be difficult to pick without a combo. Middle East is still very underpowered though, in my opinion it needs to be +5.
