Today on Under the Microscope, brought to you by *cough*a mysterious alt*cough*, we take a look at The Royal Falcons.

Number of members: 67

Tagline: Strength. Unity. Prowess.
Created: 12/11/2014

A controversial and volatile clan, The Royal Falcons boost a truly interesting history indeed. An array of dramatic coups, hijacks, forums outbursts, and controversial members have firmly and permanently imprinted the image of this clan, for better or worse, into the minds of many members of the warlight forum community. A sizable and predominantly roleplay clan, The Royal Falcons are lead by owner and “monarch” Thomas633. To their credit, The Royal Falcons eventually parted ways with their more notorious forum personalities and now strive to improve the quality of their community. Whether the change is too little too late awaits to be seen.

The Royal Falcons’ clan page has experienced multiple changes and overhauls though it’s life but the current version does a fair enough job of providing readers and potential members information on the types of games that the clan plays, rules, and a point of contact. While the clan page suffers from some irrelevant hierarchy/government ranks clogging, it should be noted that it is an improvement from previous versions that were stuffed with meaningless titles and government constitutions. During my stay with the community I was not invited to any clan games, tournaments, or chats despite introducing myself on the clan forums, which was also relatively silent. That said, the few members that did communicate on the forums were friendly and came across to me as mature people. Should these individuals continue development on some promising threads regarding promoting clan games and raising member activity, who knows where this clan can go?

Informative Clan Page: (C+)
Clean/Mature Reputation: (C-)
Member Benefits: (C)
Clan Activity: (C-)
Unity/Achievements: (D+)
X Factors: (B-)
Overall Clan Quality: [6/10]

*this is just an analysis after staying in the clan for a period. feel free to disagree or discuss further about the clan and possible factors about them i may have missed. Who will be the next clan...Under the Microscope?*

With four C's and a D, it should be a 5/10 max

Darklords received a 6/10 just like the Falcons...

https://www.warlight.net/Forum/108239-under-microscope-darklords

As for the Poon Squad, as i clearly laid out in my review of them, their community actually plays games and tournaments together and are more active than the DARKLORDS and Falcons who could not offer their members anything.

You thought Poon Squad, Darklords and some other crap ones were better than this one? REALLY? It's not great, but Poon Squad, for goodness sake? REALLY?

Em... Poon Squad is a very sound clan that offers a unique experience and is spot on for its target group. THey can be argued to be a 9/10 or 8/10.

Darklords is not as bad as their repetition, and is largely up to the individual what they get from the clan. They can get a clan tag.... to competitive 1v1 training. 7/10

The Royal Falcons on the other hand has had an unstable leadership. This really hurts a clan. It makes it hard to rate the current state. A 6/10 seems as a safe option to me, both a higher and a lower rating could be argued for.

{I value a clan based on what I perceive they try to be, and whether they succeed in their attempt}

TRF is definitely not on par with Poon Squad. Their activity rates are near-zero and their leadership seems to be trapped in a state of unproductive lethargy.

Ok, so I did some rating, turns out it's more based on my bias for Poon Squad. My unbiased rating for Poon Squad:

Informative Clan Page: (2/10)
Clean/Mature Reputation: (2/10)
Member Benefits: (7/10)
Clan Activity: (8/10)
Unity/Achievements: (3/10)
Overall Clan Quality: 4.4 (Ok)

(not my biased rating where I'd take off for every time they imply something sexual)

Rating for TRF:

Informative Clan Page: (4/10)
Clean/Mature Reputation: (4/10)
Member Benefits: (3/10)
Clan Activity: (2/10)
Unity/Achievements: (3/10)
Overall Clan Quality: 3.2 (Mediocre)

But not by much worse.

First, Please remember for all you fools out there, these are BanaNa's views on these clans

Second, BanaNa posts these reviews to incite thoughtful arguments, not flame wars, which seems to be the direction xpabty is headed

Third, even if you disagree, at least acknowledge the opponent's argument, and then counter where their evidence or assessment is incorrect, as that is how we get thoughtful discussion

Fourth, do not go flat out accusing persons of just being wrong without evidence(looking at you xpabty again)

Fifth, let's avoid a flame war, if you are going to counter a statement, at least have evidence ready, or acknowledge that these are your views, and may not be widely accepted.

no, there is also a B-, so the average is 6. To be honest the two validation scales are somehow nonsensical. I would recommend to use only one or at least extend the second one to 12 or even better to 18.

EDIT: what does X-Factor mean?

During my experience in the TRF under an alt, I too have not been invited to anything, and the Clan Forum is filled with a bunch of threads that the community are trying to reform the clan, but none of the staff care about it enough to do anything. New leadership must be installed there if it is to get off its feet.

I tried to help this clan. I really did. But then, a hijack happened (because Thomas and Colonel started giving MR to everyone) and even though we got our clan back, Thomas got paranoid and refused to give me MR. So I stayed... as more or less a placeholder until a better clan was made. Then, After_Dark collapsed as well and CORP got revived. And then I left. But came back.

Yeah, anyway, if nothing has changed, Thomas is trying to manage the clan on his own, which isn't happening, because he doesn't care about his clan or has no time to spare for it.

Try going to the map development forum for help in that field Kogaion.

And BaNana, that is another well-written review on a well-known clan. Good job. And I completely agree with Japan77.

Using the GPA system, 4 Cs + 1 D equals roughly 9 points. The B is gonna be plus 3, making it 12. 12 / 6 = 2. 2/4 for the GPA system, or 1/2.

Translating this, we see y that the Falcons should receive a 5.0/10. I'm not going to calculate the plusses and minuses, but I'm sure they're miniscule in determining power.

Actually, the pluses and minuses cancel each other out except 1 minus, so the GPA would be just under 2.0/4.0, meaning a rating under 5.0 is justified.

But Mongols are "Ikhanic"

Still the best tagline of any clan, but wasn't there an old one about pillaging and stuff?
