While we're at the idea of lotto and diplo ladders. Id like to propose video ads which pop up during a game so you accidentally click it and it takes 4-5 seconds to load before you can hit the back arrow which will require another 4-5 seconds to go back to the game.

We could also add, eliminate opponent cards. You can play this card by selecting an opponent and at the beginning of the next turn, your opponent gets eliminated.

Or, hear me out here, we get these owls and every time a turn ends, the owl hoots. No sound file. Real owls.
