But tournaments that will never fill up in an acceptable time due to special or weak settings should be deleted again and allow other players the possibility to create a new open tournament for free
Yup yep, I agree.
There's a separate problem with the coin tournament system that needs to be addressed. It concerns the non-free tournaments, so it's not directly related with MoD's points. But I'll take this chance to voice them here, because I think it still has some relevance to the topic (indirectly).
Fizzer wanted to do two things while implementing the new tournament system: He wanted to earn money, and he wanted to tidy up the "open tournaments" feature of WL by discouraging players from creating T's. About the first, I don't have much to say - let him earn money, cool. About the second: The way he discourages the players is to make the hosts put a lot of coins at stake, while creating a tournament. Do the math and you'll see easily: If a host wants to create a non-free tournament, the only way for him/her to make profit (WL coins-wise) is creating a 1v1 T and become the champion. In team tournaments, the best the host can get in the end (on the condition that his/her team is the winner) is an amount of coins that does not compensate for the creation costs (because the revenue is divided among the members of the winning team). This is so, because the other contestants do not pay an amount that is comparable to that of the host.
The alternative would be to make all contestants pay a larger entry fee, and removing some of the creation cost from the host. I'm sure Fizzer has already considered this and I'm pretty sure he didn't prefer to go for this alternative: because it would encourage players to create more coin tournaments, not discourage them from doing so - and it would make the open T's page a mess again, probably (which we know nobody wants).
The problem (for Fizzer): This really tidies up the open T's feature, but it clashes with Fizzer's intenion to make money. Because less coin tournaments means WL earns less money, at the end of the day.
The problem (for the WL community): Players are encouraged to host free OT's, with settings that may not interest enough number of players in a given amount of time. (This is the point that is indirectly relevant to this very topic.)
