I know what happens to clans with no players in them; they fall through the gaps of the system never to be seen again. And even now there are clans with players that haven't played for eons. It is a waste. There are many people out there who could put these dead clans to use. Clans shouldn't just die, but be put out there for someone to revive. Put criteria or whatever to choose who is suitable. I personally do not know what is required to start a new clan, but I think I do know that there is a cost involved. It then is somewhat understandable that they are not passed on, but why waste them? They could at least be deleted.
I think because someone pays money with them, so Fizzer can't delete them, or give manager rights to someone. this is unfortunate but it is just the way it has to be :/.
Also if the people that actually make this "dead" clans actually made sure they had good leadership when they left Warlight then we wouldn't have this problem.
Diplomatic Immunity/Jessie Jane, I believe it would legally, however only clans made after he said this (By said this I mean implemented into a terms, it is actually likely already in terms) , and it would devalue clans in the sense that they could be worth less to the player if it might not be under their control forever, which means they might not want to pay 15$.
Also though I do believe he has the right to deform or do anything he wants with any clan at any point, usually things like this will be in terms of service to help avoid ANY future problems.
Also Genghis considering name changes are possible at any point it is possible that clans might also rotate on the same programming that would make this possible, however it might have to be manual, that or he'd have to program it all in which would take some time
Of course I really don't know a whole lot about all this so I could be wrong on everything, but just some possibilities :)
Well, they are currently still "in existence", even if the clan lacks having anybody. He could probably resell the ones that lack anyone at a lower price without implementing name changes, or he could restrict some things within clan options.

Fizzer usually denies clan renames, however I have heard of a few special circumstances where he would allow it
I don't see a problem with old unused clans, and see no reason to put much effort into reviving them. New clans are a good revenue opportunity for warlight, and well worth the $15. This is a small business that offers free entertainment, and it will only thrive if the users find ways to fund it.
If you're too cheap to shell out at most a few hours worth of your paycheck to make your own clan, I guess you could try to take over an unused existing clan. I don't see the fun in that though, the whole point of a clan is to create your own group identity.
I already suggested it many times, and even posted this idea in the "ask about anything #3" and Fizzer replied about this (in the very end of the online streaming conversation), and said it would never be implemented. I even suggested to take control of these dead clans for some dollars (then it would be a win win situation for all of us), or be able to change a clan's name as well for some money, but well he just ignored about my suggestion, so you see do not expect about this to be implemented in the near future, one advice: vote in the Uservoice about clans (if Fizzer still ever pays attention about this)

No, I'm not in a clan. The [x] is simply to (a) Identify me with my alt(because I can't use the other one as readily as this one, I created this), and (b) Identify me with my clan tag in SpringRTS. I am interested in a clan, but was just curious about what people thought about this. Was mainly wondering why they weren't deleted, as that will turn out to be some kind of memory leak - ish. Who knows what will happen anyway

Some of us are students who are more worried about whether or not we can afford to eat pizza at least once this month, a Warlight clan would be far too much of a luxury.
I don't know if anyone remembers this, but Fizzer did delete a clan once (that I know of), about 18 months ago. It was a clan about small penises I believe..
