Clan Problems with Solution:

1. Clans can easily be hijacked.
Do not give untrustworthy people manager rights.
2. No clan ladder, in which people from the same clan are ranked.
Warlight API.
3. Fizzer will not implement things, because he is focused on money.
No solution, no problem. Community can still be creative.

What is limited is the Warlight API. If Fizzer wants to make money he can add lots of API perks to the current membership, which would increase the amount of people making CLOT ladders, and would nullify complaints about the 1v1 Ladder.

People like Muli are the innovative geniuses that creative amazing things. Fizzer said that he is barely making enough money to live, and we need to respect that. However, without a community, there is no game. The community can satisfy itself, through amazing things like the "Clean up the Dashboard" which evolved amazingly.

Even if Fizzer doesn't make APIs public, I'm betting there's at least one person on here who can figure out the private API by intercepting HTTP requests. They're encrypted so it's a little bit tricky but I don't think it's impossible or even very hard for someone with the right set of skills.

Death: It got hijacked quite a lot in the past

I can make that happen again. :)

*banter between knyte, Death, and Koala*

Seems like Death was kind of taking it off-topic, but then Koala is trying to start badthing.

Fizzer said that he is barely making enough money to live, and we need to respect that.

It would be nice if we get statistics on this. He said that he was barely making enough money to live years ago, but now there's gambling and a bigger player base. If he really was making "barely enough" you'd think there would be more incent to develop Warlight more with at least 2 hours of coding everyday, would not you?

Two frains I have, besides seeing advertising and gambling monies:

Am I the only one who recalls Fizzer saying something like "a system is being developed to make possible joining a game in the place of someone that has been booted"? I'm still waiting for this; I think it was during the coins update.

And what happened to Mercer? Last seen 60+ days ago?

I think cracking the encryption, whilst do-able, would be a step to far in my opinion. Not just morally, but also in that it's not an approved way for us to interact with Fizzer's code. If he decided to change the encryption or how the API operates then any work we've done to that point would be effectively wasted. I would only suggest we go down this route if Fizzer becomes truly inactive.

I would however love to see a better API. I myself would really just love to be able to access the game data whilst a game is running. With that I could easily build my own interface for the game, but at the moment it only allows you to view games that are complete. It seems to me that the code might be there, most likely hidden/not complete, or removed because of a security issue maybe... (By the way, the code only shows you the same as what you would see if you loaded the game up in Warlight, not things you wouldn't be able to see because of fog, so I'm not 100% sure what the issue could be) But if this was done then I would definitely start getting involved again.

I would also love a way to take turns, send orders etc. back through the API as well. For me that would help so much with things like "Set up orders to attack all neighbouring territories with X troops" to help with things like early game expansion, which I feel is repetitive and painstaking, especially on mobile and also in real-time games with large maps.

It's the sort of thing I could easily make available to the whole community as well, and even tied in with the "Clean up the Dashboard" script for example, to give everyone nice easy buttons to work it with :)

This could also potentially be used for things like enforcing certain rules in a game, such as "limited deployment" or even setting up dynamic alliances in Diplos, or stopping players from attacking certain territories on a map or even setting up "one-way gates" where troops can move from one territory to another in only one direction :) Anyway, I think I'm getting ahead of myself here... We can only do things like this if the API allows 2-way communication with the server and in real-time.

I do however think community based things like this would really help the game move in leaps and bounds, and generally make it more fun for all involved. I'm sure most of the community would be happy to work on such things for free just to help improve the game we love to play! :) It's the reason Fizzer purports to have made the game in the first place, so why can't we all, Fizzer included, work together on this to improve the game we love, and encourage the community we're a part of to grow? :)

TL;DR: If we had a better API, where we could access the game data whilst a game is running as opposed to when complete, and also to take turns, send orders, etc, back through the API as well, then the game of Warlight and the community could be improved immensely by the players themselves :)

I've asked Fizzer this multiple times and he's just refused. I don't think we can count on any API improvements coming from his end. It's not so much cracking the encryption as much as intercepting the requests and reverse engineering things- like what's been done with Tinder's api.
