Ever been playing somebody and thought you were going to win, only to find that the opponent starts taking exactly 4:59 to take each move, presumably in an attempt to bore you into surrender?

This just happened to me again in a game and I booted him the second time he went over 5 mins, he started calling me a cheater and giving me aggro about it, saying I could only win if I cheated etc.

I told him that if he looked at any of my other games he would be able to see that I always warn before booting but suspected he was doing it deliberately. It's about the 3rd or 4th time I've seen this happen too. Is it common?

You did the right thing. In fast games 5 minutes means 5 minutes and we all should move in 5 minutes and boot after 5 minutes.


(Why won't people stop complaining about 5-minute games? Nobody whines after getting booted in a two-day...)

Matma, it just happens less often, and personally i give a warning no matter how long the game is, and generally give 100% over the boot time, multi-day or RT.. however, if it is apparant you'ev won, and you suspect the person is delaying purely for the purpose of trying to catch you unawares and conceivably booting you themselves, i see it as perfectly acceptable to boot them right at time.

personally, i prefer 5 minute games that have auto-boot set.. i just wish there was a way to implement it so the auto-boot took into consideration the first turn, possibly giving it leeway, considering that people are often afk when a game starts..

Auto boot is a fantastic addition, as long as both players know about it.

If Auto-boot is not on I generally give about 8-10 minutes first time.

Autoboot should really end the whole boot complaint issue. Sicne it is such a huge game changer maybe it should be automatically added to the title of any game where's it's on, i.e. "(AUTOBOOT = 5 MINUTES)" after the name of the game.

It would be nice if Autoboot could be added to the Auto 1v1 games.

I like auto-boot, with booted turns to ai.. surrenders don't....
