Today is remembrance Sunday where we place our Poppy's in reefs and wear them with pride. As we are grateful for the gift of life and freedom because of the brave men in WW1 who gave their life so we could celebrate ours. But we should pay our respects to all men, women and children as young as 15 gave their lives, in any way. So I think I speak for all of warlight when I say RIP to all soldiers who have died in vain since 1914.
May they Rest In Peace. RIP

Are Armistice Day, Remembrance Day, and Veteran's Day all basically the same thing?

^ Dont know but in France we only commemorate it during the Armistice Day (11th of NOvember), same thing for WW2 the 8th of May. And these 2 days are national holidays.

Not many people commemorate it in Australia because we have ANZAC Day earlier in the year on the 25th of April to commemorate the first time that Australia fought in a war as its own nation (instead of a colony of Britain).

Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

You think this one is bad?

No World War can be summed up in 6 better words:
The war to end all wars.

The irony

Thank you very much Sir Salty for this touching remembrance. I would just like to remember my great great uncle who was forced to fight for the British Raj against the Ottoman Empire in WWI and died in an ambush. May Gob bless all those families who have also lost family members to the curse of war.
