We've discussed language, flags, wars and now we head to something more controversial: food.
We start with my favourites, anyone else can feel free to chime in since food is a very subjective topic.
Biltong, there are no vegetarian South Africans for this reason. Some Americans might say that biltong is simply jerky, I must admit I can't say anything on this since I've never had jerky. Biltong is basically dried up salty meat.
Malva pudding, this is my favourite dessert. Just awesome, best with custard.
Gatsby, its like a sub but better and cheaper and will cause more cholesterol.
melktert(milk tart), this is an awesome dessert that goes well with tea and what have you.
Other notable South African foods:
Bunny chow
Rusks- which you must have with FUCKING TEA, if you have it raw you're an idiot. I saw a youtube clip of foreigners eating rusks and they said it tasted weird.
potjiekos(pot food)- this is tricky since its basically different kinds of stew
vetkoek(fat cake)- just yum
koeksisters- really sweet, personally this is too sweet for my taste.
If there is any other food that is fascinating from your home country, do post.
