Often, if I get booted in a map that turn booted players into IA, I dont notice it.
When you become an IA, the game doesnt tell you anything, all you see is like "waiting for X (player name) for 2 days" or something like this. And, especially if you play a manifold of games you just think "oh ok, I hope he'll play soon".

This could maybe be optimized, because, a lot of times, It's allowed for booted player to take control back from IA and, by the time I notice it, two or three turns have passed.

Maybe the game could display a special Icon on the Dashboard to warn people about the fact they are an IA and can take control back? This could be good for everyone, considering how booted and IA people ruins game.

(Of course, people could also tell me : just dont get booted on the first place, but still, as those things sadly happen, they can be optimized:) )

Here's an idea, don't get booted.

First off it's AI not IA, because it stands for Artificial Intelligence not Intelligence Artificial.

Second, the fact that you are talking about multi day means you would have multiple DAYS to check if it's your turn. You shouldn't get booted in a multi day without knowing about it unless you have some other very important business to attend to.

Also it does tell you if it's your turn or not by way of bright red lettering right under the name of the game. If you haven't taken your turn recently and it says it's "So-and-so's" turn for 2 hours you should know you have been booted.

You can't say in this day and age you don't have access to internet. If you on vacation, set yourself on vacation and play games that honour vacations. Otherwise you have no excuse, you most likely have a smartphone or a pc/tablet, it takes 10 minutes max to make a move. You can't say over the period of 3 days you couldn't find 10 minutes.

i know we all get annoyed at people who get booted over and over again.

But lets suppose it happened for a legit reason.

Shouldnt there be an explicit way to know we are beign run by an ai?

i usually do it by thinking: i havent been around for 4 days, that ative game says we are waiting for someone to submit for 3 hours, i didnt submit three hours ago, which means my ai submitted my orders, but we cant suppose that everyone is able to do basic thinking

So,

First, yea sorry its AI and not IA (in my native langage its IA so I didnt pay attention).

Second, don't take this the wrong way but every comment about "dont get booted" are totally useless. I finished my own message by saying "yea, I know, I should not get booted." However, I noticed those kind of things do happen (even though, and I agree with you, they should not), and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to get booted. So why not try do something about it?

Third. This happens most of the time in RP/diplo game, where boot time are extremely long, because it can take alot of time to place order (because, well, you have to talk, negociate, betray and so on before taking your turn). Then, suddenly, you get turned into an AI, and it ruins the game for everyone (RP games are very AI-sensitive because, well, you cant negociate with an IA...).

So to sum things up:

1. No one should ever get booted, but people do. Its useless to act like the problem didnt exist.
2. I think having a special visual effect to warn people that they have been turned into AI and can still come back could be usefull:)

i thought when any player is now AI controlled that the name of the player in the game says specifically: AI (previously: player_name)

Yes it does, but you dont see it in dashboard :)
