initially this was odd, which was an acronym I made up for the "offensive defensive dillemna" i struggled with in a different game.

then i changed it to Hysterio, named after a character i liked

then i figured i wanted to be like The Glorious Koala, and became The Hysterical Koala. (I think of this as the panicky version of "hysterical" as opposed to the funny interpretation, myself)

I am a big Star Wars fan. Kit Fisto is a cool looking semi-obscure Jedi, and I was born on May 10.

Idk, i was thinking of a small youtuber, xXLeGoldfishXx, and after messing around with the name, i created it (it was originally used for a Clash of Clans like Lord of the Rings game)

Dr. Stupid
Level 60
Report
My name is derived from an episode of The Simpsons where the school tries to pry funding from Mr. Burns by putting on a play showing how dangerous Springfield would be if they are not properly schooled including Ralph playing a character named "Dr. Stupid" who accidently kills the patient he's operating on who looks suspiciously like Mr. Burns. After the patient is killed, Burns turns to Smithers and says, "I never LIKED that Dr. Stupid" mistaking the character for a real person. (and yes, my profile pic is a screenshot from that episode)

Pair my enjoyment of that episode with how annoying and unoriginal I find players who select intimidating sounding names and my own desire to never take myself too seriously and...

Dr. Stupid

seemed like a natural fit.

I'm really enjoying reading these! It's way more fascinating than I expected! Thanks thread creator! :D

To add some detail, I got my nickname from school, many decades ago, because I would always wear fleece no matter what (to be fair I love it!)

The original name I used online was "Fleecemaster General" which is a play on "Postmaster General" but due to the length often I couldn't use it all, so I shortened it to Fleecemaster, and usually players who know me just call me Fleece :)

I don't generally respond to "Master" and I generally forget it's there, partly why I put it in lowercase, because it's just part of my name, not a title :)

I use Fleecemaster for everything online, and it's very rarely ever taken, so if you see a Fleecemaster somewhere else, it'll most likely be me!

I think the American for "fleece" is "flannel" which I think atributes to my pseudonym of "Flannelcommander" given to me on another game, I'm quite fond of this name and I think it rolls off the toungue nicely :) As a strict personal rule I never ever ever use alts, but if I did I would probably use this name!

^^ I usually think of flannel as cotton material, like winter pajamas,

and fleece as either a coat / fabric made from wool,
or a particular polyester weave that has many nice qualities,
but warmth for the artic-winter isn't usually on that list.

Still, I really like the story. :)

My story: I was signing up for my very first MMORPG, called Utopia,
which had some medieval and some mythic elements in it,

and I wanted a name to honor my Irish heritage,
(as I am 1/2 Irish on my mother's side),

and I knew that Scotland had Highlands,
and that they had soldiers called Scottish Highlanders / Highlander Warriors,

and without much research, I reasoned that Ireland must also have Highlands,
but I never really did much research on the Irish Highlands.

But I wanted a name that was unique, that wasn't random,
that honored myself/history/heritage, and that wasn't overly evil sounding,

So I came up with a name for my kingdom/people:
Irish Highlanders, and in the roleplaying with personal mail messages,
I added to it:

Dublin Warrior,
King of the Irish Highlanders

Fisto, I'm also a star Wars Fan.

I used to play Runescape. Sometimes I still do. Their name-database is probably one of the largest ones I know. I started going through names of Star Wars characters, starting with Anakin. He was obviously take. Obi-Wan was taken. Yoda was taken. After a furious war with the nickname-field I managed to get the name master_poof after Yarael Poof. He is a Jedi-Master in episode 1. I have stuck with the name ever since.

I use this for most things. It is my first name (always lowercase, just how an 8 year old typed it in), followed by a 1 because a name is boring.

Many times I have considered switching to Arsteel after a book character by Brandon Sanderson. I use Aramar for my Blizzard account, just something random I put in.
