I'm currently playing 3 2x2 games with the ladder format. The combination of 1 start spot, a gift card and blockades has led to some pretty unique games. Getting eliminated from your starting spot has happened 3 times already. Battling to a draw and relying on transfers to save you has happened repeatedly. The games have gone deep and had numerous reversals.
I wasn't a fan of the settings on 1st look, but I'm starting to appreciate the format.
Blockades are so difficult to use. Being worth 500% is a must. You can deny a bonus, but only if you do it before the opp reaches you or if you're willing to risk blowing up a lot of defensive armies (basically absorb the hit and blow up the few you have remaining). It's so much less versatile than an abandon. You really can't use it offensively other than to deny bonuses. Which has happened with every card used by both teams in all 3 games (none wasted so far).
Nice job Fizz.

personally would like to see 2 starting spots. Although I will admit that the current settings w/gift are very well designed.

The "super bonuses" in East Asia are very small though, in terms of income, so I don't think they are unbalancing. I love that map, but I do think it could be a bit big for 2v2. I definitely agree that I'd like to see some variety in maps. I don't really want to see 2 starting spots per player, except maybe on larger maps.
