I haven't done this in a while. The rand(South African currency) is currently the weakest its ever been in history.

How safe is SA? Because when I was chatting with a friend from SA he said when he first moved to England he didn't feel safe because his house wasn't walled off...

@Belgian, we don't. Yes the crime rate is high but there are worse places.

@Luna, South Africa is safe. Obviously like all countries certain places have worse areas than others. Your friend was probably from Joburg or something. I also won't trust him with things concerning South Africa. I'm generalizing here but your friend is probably one of those UK/Australia fundies that exaggerate how bad the situation is in South Africa but when the Springboks win they're suddenly proudly South African.

So I'm assuming your friend is an asshole. Yes South Africa has problems like any country but it all depends where you stay.

I haven't spoken to a tourist who has been mugged or anything and I've spoken to a lot of tourists.

I blame the government, I don't care which country.

yeah, back to the economy. Our president fired the finance minister and appointed some random person that no-one knows and doesn't have a degree in finance or any formal education in finance. Foreign investors pull out, currency crumbled.

So yeah, South Africa is nice, cheap place to spend the holidays for people from countries with a strong currency and we have summer in December.

Those are still horrible numbers, but they aren`t the worst.

Thank you Min34 but I did mention it earlier. It is still a high figure but if you seperate the country by provinces that number would range so much. Some provinces have very little crime while others are riddled with it.

lol, yeah Moldova is the poorest country in europe. South Africa's economy is bad but I will really start worrying when it looks half as bad as Moldova.

my parents month salary is 4500 euros, our country is considered the poorest because of Transnistria that is ruled by Kremlin, our situation is not bad, we don't have niggers on streets

4500 euros is considered as a low middle class salary for Western European countries so nothing amazing at all. but still just checking your country salary months average, it would mean your parents are deputies or CIOs of one of the biggest Moldovan company (if any exists)?
