I wish...

At some point I'll almost definitely stop playing the actual games, but I like to think I'll keep visiting the site and forum, to keep up. :)

If i die while still playing does that count as a retirement or not.

Heheh, I turn 40 this year. Whether it's Warlight or some other Risk-like game, I could see myself playing it for a long long time. I really do believe that its Risk-like nature has made it an instant classic. And who knows, maybe it's one of those games that really is 'classic' like chess, and maybe people will still be playing it in 100 or 1000 years, in some form or another. Maybe there will develop a global Warlight federation like chess' FIDE, and 1000 years from now this website will be part of the ancient history and lore of a game played across the solar system. Ya never know....

wct, with the way warlight is right now, it is much simpler than chess to understand and play well, especially with 0% SR luck. Without some serious strategy changes, warlight doesn't have the potential to reach the high level of strategy chess has. That said, it take most players over 1,000 games to become a very good player, so while warlight may not be as strategic as chess, it is complex enough for players to spend a lot of time on it, and not easily get bored of it. So I could see it increasing in popularity soon. I wonder what types of changes could help it reach the complexity of chess; it might be worth experimenting with.

As for retiring, it depends on what you mean. I know I'll end all my games eventually, but even when I do, I'll likely still log into the site occasionally to see what's up with the community, and to see if any major changes happen.

Pretty sure that HHH or one of his alt will always be around.

As my Alzheimer's progresses I may just forget I'm still playing or maybe forget my turn and get booted out to oblivion

I find myself having several hiatus's in my times here, some lasting 6 months or more, but I don't think I will truly retire until my body retires from life.

Probably retiring or taking a break soon.....the community is a pile of shit

I don't think I will stop anytime soon.

Alltho I played WarLight lesser in certain periods, I always came back to host new Diplomacy games.

The community has mostly always been shit. New people of the "modern generation" (ROFL, LEL, SWAG, YOLO-kiddies and other people that think they are cool) ruin the games, but there also are still plenty of people that are fun with to play.
Good people are difficult to find, but when you find them you can play some awesome games with them.
