You don't need to Google for Mercer's profile- just go to Clans -> Warlight Staff.

Miles' previous name could also be a reference to the fact that they both play from Washington, which would've caused people to confuse him with Mercer.

Mercer's level definitely suggests alt status, though. It doesn't look like Mercer played that much.

Miles Edgeworth is definitely not Mercer, as he has disagreed with the change on the 1v1 ladder.

Everyone can disagree with a change.
