This game took place on the Italy map. First, I started expanding and eventually defeated the 3 people around me. But these people slowed me down enough and meanwhile the fighting amoung the 3 people in the top eventually resolved into one guy getting destroyed. I had sardinia and the south while the other two split the north along a long border. I had the most income but had a bit less than their two combined. I found with them a bit but realized that I could not beat both of them. So I decided to pull myself back and have defence points on sicily and sardinia so I only had to defend two places while the other two killed each other. Light blue was the only one who took advantage of this and he pushed into my territory while yellow didn't do anything. Then, yellow attacks light blue and quickly takes a lot of his territory since they had a long border and little depth. I then started taking back my territory. Blue was reduced to a few pockets but had a large stack of armies while yellow controlled a lot of the top. I was approaching where I was before and it appears the final showdown between me and yellow would happen. Then, yellow was booted and light blue surrendered the next turn.

You fought well. Congratulations. Under those circumstances most players would surrender. You fought against two players bravely. It was mission impossible. They thought you are almost collapse. Then one of them betrayed other. And they started fight with each other. Thus you won.

Lesson from this In FFA you should fight until end. Wind might change its direction.

It's a good game. I guess you had won anyway - you had equal production to yellow, and your large army was focused on killing yellow, while light blue's large army was focused on killing yellow.

Good job. It would have been a more interesting game, had yellow not been booted, but you did well not to surrender quickly.

That was definitely entertaining. Good job!

genghis,i won't say he's a noob but there's something i'd like to show everyone

it was possible to complete that bonus in turn 2 with 5 income
the way you do it is by attacking the 5 neutrals with 1 army first,and then attacking the remaining with 6 so that 1 kills 1 and 6 kill 4,so you kill 5 armies in total
in that was you could have captured that +4 bonus in turn 2 instead of turn 3,making the game much easier for you

also the 3 people that you said you defeated did not attack you even once till turn 9
reason being they were fighting their neighbours
this is a typical ffa situation where you get free farm of players,this worked out quite well for you since your other opponents had to expand by killing 5 neutrals per territory,i.e. losing 4 armies per attack,wheras you had to just chew through those who were already half dead

Very well played. I think you would have won even if yellow stayed and blue got booted. I probably would not have thought of that plan you did, and would have surrendered probably, mistakenly.

The game ended at the right time, you managed to break Yellow and light blue would have stuggled to recover, so I wouldn't call it anti-climatic, unless you really were expecting it to play out till you had all of Italy? :P

I didn't see any point at which your surrender was viable, you were well in that game all the way through, and maintained your troop count very well :)

People often think that "losing land = you've lost" but that rarely is the case if you know what you're doing.

I think Ryiro's point is a moot one, in a FFA you don't always want to complete bonus straight away, there are several reasons that I won't bore everyone with. There are situations in 1v1s that this can also be the case but it's much rarer, and is usually related to not giving away your position.

Anyway, gg man, if you want I'll invite you to the FFAs I host, if you're up for a real challenge :P

this is a 5 neutral game
it makes total sense to go for the 2 turn bonus
unless you are playing against someone who is playing with alts,there is no way anyone would stop you from completing that bonus

I didn't say they would stop you, and I agree, they wouldn't, so why rush to get it turn 2 and leave yourself potentially vunerable?

he got his first pick
he has no idea where his opponents are
there's no reason not to rush for the bonus you can get
there are bonuses you can get in 3 turns adjacent to it
suppose you get your bonus in 3 turns and your opponent also get their bonuses in 3 turns,you have no advantage over them
not to mention if they complete a +5 bonus,your future expansion is slowed down by a lot
he was just lucky he got 2 neightbours who fought each other instead of just 1

Thanks for the advice. That method to get the bonus is genius.

I feel like some people didn't notice that I pulled my troops back and let them take my territory intentionally so that the other two people would fight each other once I no longer appeared to be a threat.
