I'd like to leave myself the option of changing names, but opportunities to do that get very rare after lvl 52. As a member I can't turn off ads to earn fewer points. Are my only options to drop out of ladders and turn off "fizzers picks"?

you can use those 1v1 50 templates, than make them practice, good to practice your 1v1 skills, but no levels.

but if he plays in the ladder he will recieve lots of points just for it, creatign a huge problem if he wants to change name in the future

I think Fizzer realized too late the problems of people changing names, and added this as a way to forcefully stop players from being able to do so. There is still the rare ability after 52 to change a name, but it's so rare that it would only be used to finalize a name already chosen. I doubt he's going to add any additional name changes, especially for people who are already high enough to hit that slowdown. If you've hit that point, you already know about the limited names most likely, and are a regular on the site.

or you just realized these lvls would eb so difficult to beat after you got there.... at least for the first few to get ehre it was a surprise, i realized it once i was lvl 51 and someone said lvl 52 required a stupid amount of points

I understand that fizzer doesnt want me to change my name once i get warlight famous, but I dont much care what he wants. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I really enjoyed the fact that names can be changed and are still visible on your profile.
I liked the creativity that was visible with some in changing their name, I don`t see why it should be restricted for members.

Just surrender after you've beaten your opponent. Then you get no points, but all the satisfaction that you were the "Bigger Man"

Can we expect a reversal ?
The good old 20 days system was already binding but so much fairer than the new one.

Maybe a mix? From lvl 1-50 you can change your name every 5 levels but then after lvl 50 it is every 20 days. This will be beneficial to people who have just joined WL since levels go faster and they have the time to "find" a name that works well for them but once they reach lvl 50, they have been playing for a while and will be less likely to change their name.

I expect this change was to combat the fact that some people have 20+ names on their profile or people who change their name every 20 days just because they can.

I like Master Ree's idea, but the 20+ could be fixed by adding one button that says "previous names" then that would link to a page of their previous names(only if they had a lot of names-Fridge Gui X and such)

It's lovely that you all agree with each other, but if I may interrupt your circle jerk, the topic is: how to avoid earning points.

I agree with Miyagi's agreement with Ree! Why would you not want to earn points when you can make name changes every 20 days past level 50?

Based on what I'm seeing you want to avoid levels, not points.

I don't think this will work, but... When your level gets too high make unfair games, report yourself to Fizzer, and then watch as your level drops so you can keep your name-change open.

Make sure to only change your name after a drop.

Kerosea (by the way honorable member of our little to-many-names-for-some-to-bear club) has made my day here. :) unless you're gonna get banned or suspended, it might actually work ;)

as for the offtopic: As strange as it might sound, i found it really fun to think about what nickname to choose next.. same with avatars.. most of them were dedicated to other players, and/or based on chats or games with them. I really don't know why was it restricted so much. "Previous names" button - even with emphasis for the name used most of the time or the longest used (in bold maybe) would help a lot if it's about profile pages... but on the other hand - why bother with the regulations when, as somebody already mentioned, only a few players changed their names that often.. me, gui, kerosea, trilussa, beelz, x... a few less known players as well.. where for that matter X's namechanges were totally changing his activities, style, (sort of personality really) and for many others in the community it made the site a LOT more entertaining.. (my personal best was ozymandias by the way..). give us back the option to change names :( please.. :(

Have you tried emailing Fizzer and asking him to reset your points? He has the mechanics to lower your points and I believe he would prefer a polite request over you making games where you could be punished.

Another alternative is to make an alt account everytime you get to level x and ask Fizzer to transfer your membership to it. He also has the mechanics to do this.

The points don't matter, only levels. If he took away all your points, it would just mean you have to earn that much more to change it later (you'd have to earn back all your lost points).
