Yeah so it seems I need to brush up on my history of the Byzantines... any suggestions of good places to source my research?

Just google it and look in Wikipedia, the info there is usually pretty good.

or look in a book..(which i consider it sometimes more usefull than the internet )

I also prefer books to the internet, but my library is very limited at the moment. Any good books you recommend I buy to study the period?

Also, Wikipedia is highly inaccurate. I once successfully edited a bunch of articles to insinuate that George Bush did 9/11. It stayed there for about two weeks before someone corrected it.

a great book (i haven't finished yet ) could be Parallel Lives, by Plutarch .
Or Histories by Herodotus . Both are about ancient history .

Play EU4, its the most reliable path to knowledge of history

as well as the first two games of Age of Empires plus their expansions.

I've considered playing EU4 but it seems quite complicated compared to WL...

Then play Civ IV or V. It has great encyclopedic archives on all the different civilizations and leaders and such.

EU4 is kinda complicated but if you spend a little time with it, it'll become easier and easier to play depending on the nation you play as. I only have 50 hours in it but I think I have a good handle on things.

At least it's not like Hears of Iron which looks far more complicated than EU4.

EU4 is VERY, VERY HARD.

I'd recommend Crusader Kings 2; it's MUCH better than Civ, though I will admit, the expansions to the game are expensive (you can easily find the whole game to pirate tho)

EU4 is hard comparatively, and isn't exactly kind to new players

Regardless I'd try CK2 first

AOE is... boring. Comparatively.

In CK2, you can marry your sister-daughter. and make her your sister-daughter-wife.

It's fun to just mess with CK2... Go and eliminate whole lines of family, impregnate every enemy queen with console commands, make everyone of your lords a lover by adding homosexual trait...

even have a romance with your nephew (who is a consenting adult) :P

I gotta agree with Darth here, CK2 is love, CK2 is life. Especially the absolutely wonderful AGoT mod does it for me.

even if it's ''boring'' from AOE i've learned a lot of things, especialy from the first one an the Rise of Rome .
