I'm a member, and I've looked in Help, yet I still don't see anything that points a person directly to sign-up for Ladder games. I know I'll get mocked, but could somebody help me find the Ladders?

Under the "Home" tab there's a "Ladders" sub-tab.

Click on Home. Then click on the Ladders tab that shows up. Click on 1v1 or 2v2 and it will let you join the ladders and change the # of games you want to play at one time.

It should probably be on the multiplayer sub tab as well. Why make us go back to home to find the ladder if were looking at multiplayer (after all, the ladder is all multiplayer games).
