Is there a way of believing in nothing without being an atheist ?

I don't understand the question. I can't think of anybody who literally doesn't believe in anything.

Because I think Atheists are just as bad as religious people.

Not sure what you mean. Not all religious people are bad; not even the majority of them. Neither with atheists. You realize that all it takes to be an atheist is to not believe in any gods, right?

Obviously not all atheists and Christians....but really obnoxious twats who will do anything to ensure the other person feels like crap over which religion they do or don't practise. Such as the Jehovah's Witness' who would insult and intrude on your privacy just to spread the "word of God" like really....are you going to invite yourself in to my house to talk about a religion I don't even practise ? Or atheists who will make people look like dicks by a 4 hour rant about all the stupid things in the bible. Like really bruh ?

To each their own. I think it's hilarious! Watching all the mental gymnastics they do to try to justify themselves, it never ceases to amaze me to what lengths people will go to try to keep reality out of their belief bubbles. I consider shining a spot light on it a community service, and entertaining, too. Like watching how many clowns can fit into the clown car.

Oh, but you are no different from anyone else in that sense. You think I'm going through leaps and bounds trying to justify myself, but you have done the same thing from where I and everyone else is sitting. The fact that you think you are different makes my battle pointless to begin with, because from your point of view anything you don't agree with is wrong and below you. I, however, fully acknowledge that we aren't so different. You and I are in the spotlight together putting on a performance. I enjoy it.

Back on topic,

I said:
What 'ethnicity' is 'white'? Or 'black' for that matter? And why does he care about this supposed 'ethnicity'?
...
I'm asking what *you* mean when you call 'white' an 'ethnicity'.

Before and after, I never called 'white' an ethnicity, and you are still putting words in my mouth, the same thing you and Hitchslap have previously accused me of. 'White' is officially a skin color. 'Black' is officially a skin color. However, the term 'white' has been used for a long time to refer to anyone of purely Caucasian descent. If a person descends fully from a European ethnicity, they are 'white.' 'Black' refers to anyone with African descent, from any African tribe (I say tribe instead of nation because the borders that Europeans drew in are crock shit). Jai does not give a shit about President Obama's skin color when he says "half white." He is saying that, to back up his statement that the Democratic party isn't as diverse as they lead people to believe, President Obama isn't fully black, that is, he isn't even a complete minority. I don't believe that this counter-argument of his makes much sense, as mixed people are considered to be in the minority group anyway.
I recall you saying,
Two words: half white

Why do you *care* so much about his skin colour? You must be a racist! ;-P

Jai only used words to describe skin color to make a point of President Obama's ethnic background. To call him racist for something like this is the same as what Hitchslap is doing. Making assumptions.

Ah, so you mean by 'pure descent', the concept of a 'race', then. Am I wrong?

If a person descends fully from a European ethnicity, they are 'white.'
Even if they have dark skin?

'Black' refers to anyone with African descent, from any African tribe .
Even if they have pale skin?

(You may or may not realize this, but all humans are descendant from a small 'tribe' of H. sapiens, which was native to Africa. So I guess we're all 'black' then, eh? But that's science, and I realize you're talking about the 'popular' definitions of 'black', so, moving on...)

So, by your def'n of 'black' (the 'popular' version), since Barack Obama qualifies as 'anyone with African descent, from any African tribe', then he's 'black', right?

Oh, wait. Maybe you mean only those who are 'purely' descended from African tribes. Am I on the right track? So, you mean 'black' as in a 'race', right? (Again, the 'popular' version of the word 'race', since, scientifically speaking, there are no actual different 'races' of humans.)

Jai only used words to describe skin color to make a point of President Obama's ethnic background.

Still not sure what 'ethnicity' you're referring to here. Nor how a skin colour can refer to an ethnicity, unless you're mixing in the popular concept of 'race'. You might want to look up the word 'ethnicity'.

To call him racist for something like this is the same as what *Jai* is doing. Making assumptions.

Fixed that for you. I refer you back to Jai's first comment in this thread.

Well, I just told you how. You only read what you wanted to read.

Yes. He is black. I was trying to show you what Jai meant; I might even be wrong. I don't agree with his reasoning in this specific case.

I do not mean that. I do not mean 'black' as in 'race,' because black isn't a race. Black is a color and an urban term to refer to an individual with any African descent. I already said this...

'Black' refers to anyone with African descent, from any African tribe .

Yes.

There is no European ethnicity that has particularly dark skin. The darkest I can think of are from the Mediterranean countries, like Italy. In that case, yes.

If you're done being a smartass, I'd welcome you to have an actual conversation. Either way, after tens of thousands of years of evolution, I'd say we are not all black and none of us would resemble the first humans enough to fit in with them.

But 'African descent' is not an ethnicity either. Do you realize how many different ethnicities there are in Africa alone? 'African descent' sounds a lot like 'race' to me, especially when you throw around the word 'purely' in there. So, either way you put it, when Jai refers to 'white' and 'black', even if he's not talking about skin colour but 'descent', it's still referring to 'race', isn't it?

There is no European ethnicity that has particularly dark skin. The darkest I can think of are from the Mediterranean countries, like Italy. In that case, yes.

In fact, human skin colour varies quite a bit and there's lots of areas of overlap in colour between African and European populations. Truly, it has more to do with a sub-population's long-term exposure to the Sun's UV rays, which is significantly affected by geographical latitude and altitude.

Ok, well at least you're consistent so far that 'black' refers to 'African descent'. But if you require that concept of 'pure descent', then that's still essentially 'race'. Ethnicity has far more to do with cultural inheritance, and while some ethnicities include a concept of 'race', they are not the same thing, nor does it legitimize that concept of 'race'. Whether Jai is referring to inherited skin colour or 'African descent', he's still referencing the popular concept of 'race'. Especially if he makes distinctions like 'half white' and 'White-Black'.

And it still doesn't explain your usage of 'ethnicity'. You really need to look that up. There are tons of different ethnicities in both Africa and Europe. Even if 'white' means 'descendant from Europe', that doesn't qualify as an ethnicity. Nor 'black' from Africa.

LOL I love being talked about :)

I was only pointing out the fact that the African Community (and to a greater degree Obama himself) has co-opted his inclusion into African-American culture. This does a disservice to his actual upbringing and ethnic/racial descent. Democrats trick themselves into thinking that electing Barack Obama is an amazing milestone in US history. The US electing a non-christian president would be a greater achievement.

You think I'm going through leaps and bounds trying to justify myself, but you have done the same thing from where I and everyone else is sitting.

WCT is as desperate to gain validity for his thoughts as anyone else. Which explains his obsession with forum wars. At some point the tone and diction of his argumentation sounds like sheer vanity bordering on pretentiousness. Anyway he's Canadian...so no importance to America.

What is important isn't the skin color of the people in charge of the party, what matters is their policies. All i'm saying is if your party leaders call mexicans rapists and wants to ban all muslims from entering the USA, this is a narrative that is going to attact a lot of racist and bigots. And idiots.
Just think about this fact: 41% of Trump supporters are in favor of bombing Agrabah (i'll let you google where Agrabah is)

It doesn't matter what is the color of your skin, or ethnicity, you can be a racist and/or bigot either way. See pastor Manning for example. It is true though, that the more diverse a group is, the less likely it is to be racist, but this isn't at all a decisive factor.

Depends on you definition of "resemble". I doubt the first homo sapiens *looked like* any of the modern humans. That is if we are only talking about the look, which is what Jai seemed to imply, and is another flaw in his argument: He uses the word black to mean the color of the skin in one argument, and to mean "of african decent" in another. That's an Equivocation Fallacy.
