Well I don't know what a "Clan" is but I can certainly tell you what a Klan is, because I was in one. We gave back to the community. We dressed up as spooky Halloween ghosts and scared the bad people out of our town, and they never hurt anyone after that. Klans are for uniting friends and families with a common goal.

@benjamin With all due respect, you've clearly not been a serious diplo player before. It gets hard to keep track of more than 7 diplos at a time, from my experience, and good diplos routinely last for a month or more. Number of games played is not a good statistic to call someone out with. Instead, you should target his ~40% boot rate. Getting booted is even more of a big deal in diplo games than it is in strategic ones. And I know my boot rate is high. Shhhhh.

By the way, you have over 3X as many games played as me, but I've had my account for over 2 years longer than you. Does this make me a troll?

It was different a week ago, when I was the only one showing you respect. After you was booted from CORP and then M'hunters all I did was show you respect( even offered you a place on The Royal Falcons to help us out).

Clans are groups of people united by some common purpose or trait. These groups succeed if they're able to become more than the sum of their members- if there's some emergent behavior from putting all of these people together.

Optimum, for example, is a group of people who like making WL-related things (maps, templates, programs, etc.) or just come up with ideas. As a result of putting these people together, we've built a sort of maker ecosystem where we can get feedback and get more done when it comes to our little projects.

Clans don't really need to have some sort of defined aim in order to have that sort of emergent behavior. Most don't really; they just sort of emerge from the community itself (and communities tend to expand in a way that selects for people who're similar to existing members of said community). CORP, for example, doesn't explicitly make it an aim to make players better at strategy, have a bunch of games, or just have a lot of activity. But the CORP community finds itself in an environment with a lot of active players, a lot of whom are interested in improving their strategic game or playing a lot of diplomacies (good amount of overlap because the community selected for that sort of player in a lot of cases- or even pushed players toward the other aspect of WL just by putting them in an environment where both were happening), etc., and then just leverages it because it can and because it wants to. You end up with a ton of player improvement, a ton of activity, etc., in the end- with shit happening not just because of active management but because of the players themselves driving it (and management obviously supporting).

In the end, a clan is just what happens when you bring people together, minus the people themselves.
