That was really bad luck. (I think it's funny, if you check the luck graphs, that your statistical luck wasn't much worse than his tough.)

@WL - And there was me thinking I'd done quite well by beating a top 10 player ;)

@MathWolf - I attacked wasteland twice for very good reason. One was on the edge of Antarctica and one was on the edge of Mexico, bother of which I thought WL was in and I was right about the second one.

When you're playing a good player (which WL Fanatic is!) the last thing they expect you to do is come through a wasteland and it always catches people off guard because they think they're safe there. I've won many games after doing that.

the main problem with attacking a wasteland, is you might be providing another border with the opponent, but unless you have a sizable income advantage, you caused it at a considerable loss to yourself.. 7 armies is considerable in many games.

That's kinda shitty playing from both sides. ;-)

Well you call it shitty play if you want, but I just won another game by surprising my opponent by coming through a wasteland. He came straight on the chat and told me he wasn't expecting it and that he was about to surrender.

Attacking from a 4 sure is risky, especially in a 75% luck game :). But attacking neutrals from a 5 or 6 or attacking a 1 from a 4 may not lead to success either.

My humble efforts to take Portugal, Spain and Finland. Especially taking the last territory to get bonus seems to be a almost unsurmountable obstacle.

I put 5 armies in Antarctica on my first go and attacked with 3 in 3 different places. All of them failed to take the territory and in each case I lost 2 armies!

Wow! That is impressive. At least it wasn't in the ladder :)

0.0512% probability that this happens if I calculated correctly, so basically this will happen approximately once in every 2000 games.
