Longer answer - God figures we don't deserve perfection because of our sins, and also this life is a test to see who is suited and deserving to join Him in heaven and serve Him and be an angel and be prepared for Judgement Day. Furthermore, this world is short-lived, and relatively meaningless. If you look at the Bible, the ones who suffer are actually lucky, for they will be rewarded for their 50 years of struggles with an eternity of bliss if they follow the Lord. (note: even if you don't believe this, I'm just saying why Christians and some others believe there is suffering).
