That time when you get such a good map idea and half way though development someone beats you to it. I refer to Nasty's Hex Earth: https://www.warlight.net/Map/22530-Hex-Earth

I now refer to my half finished Hexi-Earth: https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=49867

Well done Nasty, you beat me to it :(

You could still do something unique with your hexi-earth.
How about "filling" the oceans with water hexes which don't hold any Bonus?
How about not using the Mercator Projection which shows areas around the poles much much larger as they are (e.g. Greenland has only 1/5 the size of Africa but is shown as nearly 2/3) but using the Gall peters Projection instead which will make for a much different view and balance on your Map then Nasty's. (also spares you the embarrassment of having to call most areas of Greenland snow because there is nothing else there besides snow)

With different bonuses it can be a whole different map even can be better and only similarity would be that both are hexagon based. For example lower incomes, smaller and more balanced bonuses would result a really other gameplay on it.

And you can exceed the visuals easily because NinjaNic didnt used any visual on non-hex space. You are in better position because you saw the first concept of a hex-worldmap, you can identify the weak points develop your concept and add on new ideas.

Think again its a lucky time.

Sorry Skunk! I wasn't aware of your project. But like they said, you could easily improve on what I did; I didn't add any visual effects to keep the filesize down. Since your map doesn't have quite as many territories as mine, there is so much you can do!

Plus, I see you added much more islands in the Pacific & Atlantic than I did, which will count for different strategies.

Good luck finishing your map!

Also, Madagascar is a lot larger than most people think and is the third largest island in the world, but barely has any territories on both maps.

@skunk

There is nothing wrong doing similar map, your idea was as unique as NinjaNic´s. Please finish what you started. Secondly map is just one part, bonuses totally different aspect. I like NinjaNic map a lot as finished version, but i am more than sure I will never play it due to bonus/territory size - nothing appeals in that category for me. So just think the concept of map you want, what kind of bonuses-territories sizes you speak of. I would prefer to see Large Hex-Earth map without Continent/region superbonuses, no 1-bonus territories, but rather balanced territory/bonus ratio combined with area control (regarding defense/attack positions). Big bonuses do not suit me - just my personal preference. Or all territories worth 1 - aka small bonuses + income from territories control Template like! But feel free to express your view of map!

As roughly 50% of the maps are under 100 territories, Warlight is rather constant need of large medium-large scale maps. Quantity does not imply quality. Usually the problem is balance - that people tend to underestimate.

As far as I know we got a lot of similar Theme maps, but nothing means they are same or similar except the countless copies of Europe maps @lol :)

I'm partially glad you made Scotland so big, but partially miffed that you got it wrong.
