It *might* have legal ramifications if coins could be traded as a currency. But I think buying a 'gift' of virtual coins for someone else shouldn't be a problem. Kinda like buying store credit gift cards at many stores. IANAL though. The fact that coins can be 'withdrawn' as money might throw a wrinkle into what's legal. No idea there.
