First off, my map:
https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=51379
This is a really rough draft- it's my first, and I made it a while back, then forgot about it. Just now, I finished it up(naming territories, connection points, etc).
When trying to submit it, I waited the usual 24-48 hours, and eventually got a message-

First off, congrats on finishing your map!

On this wiki page, there are a list of requirements that all maps must meet before they can go public: https://www.warlight.net/wiki/Map_requirements

This map, Ukraine (Medium/Large) version 1.0, doesn't seem to meet all of the requirements. Please fix the issues listed below and change your map back into public mode.

----------------------------------------------------

Player-controllable territories can never overlap each other. You should reduce the size of one of the overlapping territories so that both territories don't co-exist in the same spot.

This confused me, and if you look at my map(link at top), you'll feel the same way. From my perspective, my issue are gaps, not overlaps. Could someone take a look and give me a second opinion?

****EDIT****
Red Army, Timinator- I understand the concept of making maps quite well- this is a map from my very beginning. As for the guide(https://www.warlight.net/Forum/10806-easy-tutorial-making-clean-map-borders), I don't use Inkscape, so it doesn't apply to me. I tend to just make the drawing rough, then zoom in and finetune the borders, like so:https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=51931(Just a little map I started, first draft so the borders are rougher)

Red Army, I also didn't consider this to be finished, and I'm certainly willing to go back and work on it-I'm just not sure why I got that error message, while my problem seems to be the exact opposite.

Whilst I agree with you that your biggest problem is gaps, there are a few small places where there are slight overlaps too. If you want my advice though, I think the territory divisions are a bit too unsightly.

I recommend this guide: https://www.warlight.net/Forum/10806-easy-tutorial-making-clean-map-borders

I understand you probably don't want to put more time than you already have into what you already considered a "finished" map, but if you can follow this guide to improve your map, you and everyone else will be able to enjoy it much more, and then you can be even more proud of it. At the very least look at the guide for any maps you might make in the future.

I second the advice to make the borders less ugly.

It looks like your highest most bonus link is off the map canvas. Also, your megabonuses should be as close as you can put them to where they actually are. Otherwise someone might get confused as to where the megabonuses are.

I agree, you do need to work on the borders a bit. But otherwise, your structure is deccent. The megabonuses seem overpowered in my opinion, but then again I have not tested the map an cannot say that with 100% certainty.

The map itself looks great, Ukraine is really interesting for lots of obvious recent political reasons.

I think to improve the map:

a) Clean up the borders between territories (although the "rustic" look can work, some of the territories just aren't clear enough and it doesn't quite fit the map in this case)

b) Make the surrounding countries very dark grey, and add in thin country borders.
Example map: https://www.warlight.net/Play?PreviewMap=49563

Fix these and I think you would have an excellent map :)

Aura Guardian- thanks for pointing those out- I know about them, but never got around to fixing them. If I redo this map, definitely on my list. The megabonuses were all put in the top left in a hierarchy- Ukraine, then split into Eastern and Western, then the regional bonuses. The seem reasonably powered- I've tested this map a decent amount of times, both with AI's and other players, and it seems good to me.

Overall, thanks for all the feedback, but my main question is- Why did I get that message, if my problem is the opposite?

Fleecemaster-
Thanks! The reason I chose Ukraine(besides the fact that I'm Ukrainian) is all of the interesting scenarios one could do with it.

In response to:
a) I definitely need to go back and fix both the territory shapes and borders
b)My reason for not doing so at the beginning was my inability to add text. I read the tutorials for adding text and making it an object, but I don't use Inkscape(I have a Chromebook)- instead, I use drawsvg.org. I could definitly do the borders, but I'd like to also add the country names.

Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry, I assumed it was finished since you were publishing it. My bad :p
I also missed the bit about this was one of your first maps; your newer map is much tidier :)

As for the reason the map was rejected, like I said before, there are very slight overlaps between a lot of territories. The overlap is really no more than twice the width of a territory border (at worst I believe), but it must be too much overlap to meet the requirements. In your SVG editing program, if you make all the territories' fill colour transparent you should see all the overlaps more clearly in this "wire-frame" view. Once you can see the problems you should be able to move the nodes to clean up the borders. That's all I can think of doing since you draw your borders by hand. Hope that helps.

P.S. Whatever you use instead of inkscape will almost certainly have similar editing/drawing tools. If you do clean up the borders, you will probably still be able to follow the guide if you want to. It would save you some time I think, rather than constantly zooming in to fine tune each territory.

Zach, you don't have to add the names!

Edit, here's a better example: https://www.warlight.net/Play?PreviewMap=12768

Red Army-
Thanks for the tip on the transparent territories. Also, there is no other way to do this but by hand- I've checked. Finetuning it by zooming in isn't much harder, and I prefer it(For some weird reason)

Fleecemaster-
I know I don't have to add names, but since it is a map of a single country, the borders would be single lines, and may confuse people if it isn't made clear that they are borders.
