And yes, MoD can claim someone is a noob for preferring the new 1v1 template over the old one. He's right too. The new one is even more luck-based.
How is 0% SR more luck-based than 0% WR?
Simple, you can now single-pick large bonuses like East US, East Russia, Caucasus, or Australia, and finish them in two turns, you can also double-pick West China and finish it in two turns.
With WR you had to double-pick all of those except China, and China required being triple-picked. That was better, it made it easier to determine viable picks on a board because there were fewer sane choices.
More choice sounds good on paper, the problem is more choice introduces more luck, just not the kind most low-level players are accustomed to. It's not the kind of luck where the game rolls a dice, it's the kind of luck where you as a player might as well be rolling a dice when trying to determine what your best move is. You can't safely plan out your expansion and plan of attack based on where your opponent should be because quite often you no longer have any idea where they should be.
Because of this you're far more likely to get your 1/2/3 picks now than before and be left without intel and forced to expand blindly till you happen to bump into your opponent.
It's not actually a case where I think SR is inherently worse than WR on ME or MME though, I actually think it can be fixed by reducing the starting income,or amount of armies you start with on each of our picks.

Promotion/Relegation League Season 18: 2016-02-05 14:23:09
A lot of inactives this season, I guess we'll be seeing the league contract for season 19
GROUP A FlyingBender (3-1) Krzychu (3-2) timon92 (1-0) grona • apex (1-1) Jefferspin (1-2) Mirror (0-1) Falker (0-2)
FlyingBender leaps out to a great start, but his one loss against Krzychu could come back to haunt him. But there are still plenty of games left to play.
GROUP B Timinator (3-1) Master Bjarke (2-0) Master Turtle (2-2) rocky1 (2-2) Pushover (1-1) his balls. (0-4)
his balls is nearly guaranteed last place; I'd have to lose all my remaining games to take the last slot. Meanwhile Bjarke gets a big win against Timinator.
GROUP C Master of the Dead (3-0) Verzehrer (2-1) Beren • apex (2-1) Maréchal Lannes, duc de Montebello (1-2) Metatron (0-2) Frankdeslimste • apex (0-2)
MoTD starts off huge, with big wins over both Verzehrer and Beren. He needs just one more win to clinch the top place. Frank and Metatron, having relegated last season, continue their skid.
GROUP D JV (2-0) Ollie (1-0) Don [ Ω ] (1-2) ChrisCMU (1-2) Bigchps147 (1-2) Master Atom ◆Elite◆ (0-0)
Could this be the slowest group this season? JV and Ollie off to an early lead, while Don Chris and Bigchps beat each other up.
GROUP E smileyleg {TJC} (2-0) master of desaster (1-0) Polakillo (1-1) NoobSchool (AHoL) • apex (0-0) ferede (0-0) Andersault (0-1) linberson (0-2) - leaving the league
nah, just kidding, this will be the slowest group. Totally unrelated, I think MoD's recent forum trolling is really silly, given that he's one of the best players I know on 0% SR. And he argues against it. lol! (it definitely depends on the map of course)
GROUP F ps (5-1) - WINNER, but he's leaving the league <SNinja> almosttricky (5-2) Peixoto (5-2) - leaving the league Oh Noes (4-3) Wenyun (3-2) ARand0mPlayer (2-4) Stormers (2-5) BlacKnight (0-7) - leaving the league
ps is dropping out of this league despite clinching the group win because he missed a 3v2 against a newbie. CRY ME A RIVER!! With Peixoto also out, Wenyun could finish "first" of the remaining players if he beats ARand0mPlayer and ps, otherwise almosttricky will get "first".
GROUP G Great Expanse (2-0) The Glorious Koala (2-1) - leaving the league MightySpeck (a Koala) (2-2) butterfly94 (1-1) bobbob000 (0-3)
Illuminati is strong in this unfortunately small and underpowered group (ChristophU and Taisho went inactive)
GROUP H Hades (1-0) Buns157 (1-0) USA Biches (0-0) Benjamin628 (0-1) awesomeusername (0-1)
looks like this thing just got started
GROUP I - FINISHED +SAM+ (3-0) - WINNER Hostile (2-1) indibob (1-2) [WOLF] Colonel H Cardwell (0-3)
Grats to SAM for winning, shame again about all the inactives
GROUP J - FINISHED Arkanton (5-0) - WINNER Ryzys (4-1) Des {TJC} (2-3, 1-1) - unbreakable tie ipg (2-3, 1-1) - unbreakable tie Fleecemaster (2-3, 1-1) - unbreakable tie Ω Cat Juggernaut (Tom's Guardian Angel) (0-5)
Grats to Arkanton for making up for last season's finish and going undefeated this season.
GROUP K1 dodo comander (5-0) Platinum (3-0) Gustave II (2-0) AyushTheGreat (2-2) Aura Guardian (2-2) Expensive Narcotics (1-4) Gaspsian (0-1) Bayern München is the best! (0-6) - leaving the league
Even though dodo commander looks like he's in a strong position in this competetive newbie group, he still hasn't yet played the other two undefeated players.
GROUP K2 mslasm (3-0) Tony Sodano (3-1) Sułtan Kosmitów (2-0) Onoma94 (2-2) [wolf]japan77 (1-1) Cata Cauda (1-3) E Masterpierround (0-5)
From what I know of the players, Sultan beating Tony (formerly AWESOMEGUY) could very well win him the group. mslasm hasn't played any tough competition yet...
it's not just for missing a 3v2, it's also for the wins against the other 2 major contenders were decided over 3v2 that they failed. i just don't like WR, prefer 0% SR. but i understand others prefer the risk management aspect more in their games.

I prefer %0 SR as well. I am fine if this stays as is (I get why people like that luck).
I was talking with Gui and he does not like %0 SR because it results in leftovers on the 3v2s that aid expansion too fast. My suggestion would be to make defensive kill rate %75. Then 2 armies die when attacking a 2 and you get no leftovers. I have done the math on other attacks and it would not change anything else until you get pretty big stacks.

It's the exact opposite? You can plan safely every single move your expansion and your oponnent's in SR."
You're assuming you know where they started. I'd be perfectly fine with 0% SR and starting income of 3 or 4 so that Australia/Caucasus/Greenland/East Russia were no longer 2 turn bonuses on a single warlord. You're right that you can more accurately determine their income given knowledge of where they started. The problem with the current template is you are far less likely to actually have such knowledge. There are fewer dominant picks that must be picked to stand a chance, thus more guesswork in determining what they picked.

I thought that is how warlight MD was suppose to be played? Pretend to yourself you need more time to think it over, then commit the same moves as you would have 2 days earlier.
