I've noticed that these days, there is an overadbundance of DLCs in video games. I can't experience 1/3 of the content in some games (EU4, Rome 2) without having to pay almost 1.5 times the amount I paid for the actual game on DLCS.

Star Wars battlefront has more to offer from Dlc than the game itself.

and plus more than half of DLC is basically useless in most games and the rest are worth the cost and go on sale frequently.

I am the biggest Star Wars BF2 fan out there, but I didn't buy the new one. EA's stupid DLC scam is the reason why. 4 maps. 4 MAPS! That's not a game, that's a beta at best!

Doing my second campaign ever (got it over Christmas) as Portugal.

I'm beginning colonizing quite early, since I got a really good heir in the 1480s.

Have any recommendations for me? (I'm experienced enough with strategy that France seems easy, but I don't want to be some native stuck on an island. And I did Muscovy.)

DLC is how AAA developers can afford to release games and keep updating the game with more content during it's activity cycle. Without DLC's there would be no incentive for developers to do new content for the same game, you would end up with more games, with shittier quality control and development cycles.

If the cost upsets you so much you can always wait a few years and buy the GOTY versions later on, usually discounted and already including all the DLC's O_o

It works better if you sell the game as a complete game, and use DLC to expand upon it.

Civ IV is great example.

TW Rome 2 and Civ V are counter-examples. They were basically unfinished games with their last bones as dlc (admittedly civ v is not expensive).

I hate DLC's. I prefered when they just made expansion packs (Barbarian invasion and Alexander for Rome Total War), for instance. And yeah, Rome 2 was horrible with DLC's.

I think DLC hasn't gone too far. A bunch of the games I play reguarly give me a DLC or some other bonus (Halo 5 gives you REQ packs, which you use to suck slightly less bad, and FM6 gives you a free car every month). Just don't buy it if you don't want it.

Compared to the gaming s*** you'll find on an iPhone, I think anything on a console/PC is OK, pretty much.

The only kind of DLC that annoys me is micro transactions that are pointless and overpriced, or DLC that gives an in-game advantage. It's also bad if there's too much DLC.

Good DLC's either are cheap and simply cosmetic, or add more content for a reasonable price.

Ok, may I ask what games you like? It has a metacritic of 84 (Fallout 4) and a user rating of 5.8. Not brilliant, but not terrible.

The Xbox version is thirteen points better than Battlefront, and beats all five of the games Xbox are flogging these holidays (although FM6 is only a point behind). None of this qualifies the game as "garbage". So everything isn't garbage. Play Metal Gear V, or anything that Xbox flogs. If you have a PC, download the beta of Super Hot from Skidrow for a few hours of fun. Or just pirate everything and if its crap, well you got it for free, stop whining. If you have a PS4 then I have no freaking idea.
