So I am wondering how to make maps in Adobe Illustrator.

I can make a SVG file with it and draw territories, but can't seem to figure out how to rename the object IDs and the likewise.

Inkscape is open source and not hard to learn at all...

I do use Inkscape (I find it a lot easier to use then Illustrator), but I have more access to Illustrator.

If it's there, may as well use it...

Can you use the map file(s) interchangeably with each program? :)

(A possible workaround, at least for the time being:
Do the first part in Adobe Illustrator, and the second part in Inkscape.)

Strangely, warlight only reads one territory as existing, even though I named all of "Territory x". Any ideas?

Edit: I can use the map files interchangeably, to let you know.

Did you name them different IDs? They also have to be different objects, not clones.

Sorry I worded that badly, what I meant was that out of all the territories on the map, warlight only read one as an actual territory.

When I put it into Inkscape to check the territory ID's, they were all Territory_x_y, which is probably the cause of the problem.

I'm guessing this happened because many of the territories had the same ID. Some of these I did on purpose in an effort to have different objects count as one territory (it didn't work, and I would love it if someone told me how to do that without breaking the map.)
Also, there were two copies of every object on the map, almost on top of one another, but with a little overhang on each side, making the borders of the objects look thicker - I'm not sure if this was supposed to happen (possibly caused when I offset the borders?) or if I messed up when drawing the shapes.

Are you sure you don't have 2 layers of objects?

There is one layer, with two copies of every object. I can delete the copies, but I still need to know how to get multiple objects to count as one territory.
