I think the only reason why 'no one' uses the official chat is because it's not displayed under community or multiplayer anymore.

Not everyone has Skype. Why not use the Facebook page to discuss? It's one of the most popular social networking sites around. Because Facebook is one of the most popular social networks around, more players are likely to have an account.

However, anyone who has a WL account can use the official chat and more WL players are likely to know about it.

WL chat can support pictures, you just need to upload them to an image hosting site and copy and paste the image link. Then, people will have to copy and paste the link into another tab/window in order to see the image.

copy pasting is too much effort. the warlight chat is on irc. no one uses irc. Facebook restricts free speech and I don't like the format.

Facebook is more personal though. Most people won't feel comfortable giving out the names of their family members or friends. Skype still has the element of anonymity. Plus Fuck Facebook.
