I have a 20 page research paper due for my honors anatomy&physiology class by the end of my semester and I can't choose between 2 extremely interesting topics. Help!!

I just closed my eyes and stuck my hand on the screen. I have a feeling others may also.

Hahaha I figured but I thought people would choose based on key words they heard like osteoporosis, or heavy metals, or toxicity, or coagulation and they would make a gut choice. Anyway I could have done a random # generator or coin toss but I was interested to see what the WL choice would be.

It was a different language, I don't speak Science.

Science is a company, science is a subject.

I went for the effects of heavy metals in osteoporosis.

Second one seems pretty well-researched already; think the first one is more interesting and specific.

^That's definitely true, but the 1st topic is actually harder to write. Coagulation would involve discussing in detail the multiple organic chemical reaction steps and I would probably have to cut my paper down to fit 20 pages. Heavy metal toxicity is a much briefer topic, but I agree its more novel.

I didn't vote because I couldn't decide on my own; it really depends on what *you* are interested in. Here's how I see it:

If it were me personally, I would probably go with coagulation, because I'm personally very interested in the evolutionary side of biology, so learning how coagulation works would be learning a bit more about something that already specifically interests me: the cool stuff evolution can produce. Heavy metal toxicity is indeed interesting, but there's not really much of an evolutionary angle to it, so it doesn't shine quite as brightly in my eyes.

But that's just my personal preferences. Perhaps someone else might really want to get into toxicology or something, and so they might be much more interested in heavy metal toxicity and less in coagulation which has much less to do with toxicology.

I wouldn't want to recommend my own preferences for someone whose main interests are towards toxicology. Instead I would say to them, "You should go with the toxicity topic, because it's going to be more in line with your interests in toxicology."

But I have no idea what your interests are, so I can't rightly recommend either one. Instead, hopefully this reasoning might help you look for the key aspects of each topic that would really most interest you in the long run. So, that's my meta-recommendation: Figure out which topic would be most interesting for you to learn about, and pick whichever one that is.

Kind of along my point. Second topic allows you to focus on one relatively narrow topic and delve in depth. First one's going to require a lot broader strokes (or just very selective focus) to fit the topic in 20 pages; you'll end up somewhere between an encyclopedia article and an actual research paper.

Everyone wants to bring out the jargon and look like Professor Beauty. From what it seems, your research questions are asking this:

1. How do heavy metals (and is this even the official wording? Heavy metal is kind of a vague phrase) affect (human? I assume) bones, especially osteoporosis?

2. What happens chemically when (human?) blood clots?

Also, good luck stretching this over 20 pages, you will need to use a whole bunch of beating about the bush, jargon, and any details that you can grab (if you're doing #2, anyway).
