i'm thinking maybe realtime tournaments using templates from realtime ladders should also count for the realtime ladder ratings? would be a way to have more participation, and people getting more matches up against people of their rating (as they pass rounds).

if you had realtime tournament events scheduled three times a week on different timezones (to cater for europe nighttime, us nighttime and asia nightime) it could bring more dynamic back to the ladder. maybe make those tournaments worth a few coins to lure in more players?

@ps +1. In addition to increasing participation it would create a lot of good matchups for top players. Lower ranked players that get eliminated early will be able to pick up good matchups in the ladder at that point because the top players will likely still be in the tourney.

In addition to RT ladder linked tourneys, I'd like to suggest a "King Of The Hill" feature to increase RT ladder participation.

The player currently joined with the longest duration without a loss would be the King Of The Hill. Maybe add a cheesy crown icon and put them at the top of the currently joined list:) Also, there could be a KOTH achievement for various durations, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc. You could even have an all-time KOTH leader board.

Note that KOTH is achievable without getting a win. This might provide some extra incentive to stay joined to the ladder when nobody else is.

There's lots of untapped potential for the RT ladder.

My ideal of boosting participation of RT ladder: make the auto game in the lobby count towards RT ladder stats. I bet many random low-skilled players will show interest in improving their RT ladder rating After "accidentally" getting a ranking.
