It is irrelevant, the most irrelevant country on Earth, the second one is Austria.

And I hate olives, the only thing I like about Spain is its Jamon and Jabugo. Nothing else.

And France is more relevant? I doubt that.

At one point or another controlled most of the Americas, the Iberian Peninsula, modern-day Belgium, Naples, parts of Morroco and Equitorial Guinea.

Cata I don't think you realise how strong the Catalan secessionist movement is. Putting beside my joke-blind-faith-type-thing, Catalonia would easily win a referendum. Even if Scotland had only Scots vote in the referendum, it'd be barely over 50%. Catalonia could clear 70%+.

Mongols wasn't really an empire though....more of arghhhhh let take everything you own; it was like pirates that had organisation.

Some provinces like Gipuzkoa and big cities such as San Sebastian/Donosti are led by Bildu a pro independence party. The rest are with PNV: Basque Nationalist Party, not independentist but nationalist, conventional Spanish parties such as PSOE or PP have almost no votes in Euskadi.
