3). Wow. I've only read the whole series twice and watched the entire 5 seasons and am going crazy waiting for season 6, but no, I'm not a fan. (sarcasm).

Varys was interacting with Tyrion out of necessity and personal gain. He played Tyrion like a puppet, and if you find me one example where the two act in real friendship, out of the entire series... There's none. They were never friends.

This is also reinforced by the moments in which Tyrion is the main character; in his private thoughts, he never shows anything but contempt for the man.
