I've played it for years and it's still the most fun RTS to me.

COLONY WAS GODDAMN GREAT! Anything and everything by Jakrin Juangbhanich is an instant love for me. I still eagerly await Sonny 3. Why does cancer have to affect the cool people always? :(

I liked the first more... Mostly due to more interesting campaign and characters. But EE2 wasn't bad either.

I love HoMM III too, you just reminded me that I gotta hack it from somewhere again (don't have it since my computer was rebooted a few months ago and I lost all the data). HoMM V (despite Mr. Xapy's professional opinion) is also a pretty good one, imho. However VI sucks balls.

Spore is also pretty good, even just the main game (which is the only thing I've got ^)

Rome II was aids, but I didn't like Empire/Napoleon all that much. I like the period, and they could have been excellent, but making France and Spain one region, the mechanics, the long movement ranges that completely destroyed any semblance of strategy - they could've been so much better. They made up for it with Shogun II and Fall of the Samurai though.

Horn of The Abyss can be installed as a standalone game, and they let you download it for free. This is what I do to easily install Heroes 3.

Medieval Total War 2 is a very good game
Shogun Total War 2 is nice too
EU4 is quite enjoyable with the right country
CK2 is a fun incest simulator
Civ is very fun, especially with mods
