I am trying to create a territory inside, or on the border of, two existing territories. These would function something like the cities in the Large Map of Westeros (
http://warlight.net/Map?ID=9742) (Winterfell is a pretty good example of the effect I am going for). The problem I am running into is inkscape doesn't seem to want to let me make an exclusion between two territories when the smaller one extends beyond the border of the larger one. Each time I try to do it the smaller territory is absorbed into the larger but the edge of the larger territory still extends across the middle of the smaller one (somewhat confusing to explain, feel free to ask for clarification).
I figure that I can just alter the two adjoining territories so there is a gap where I want my new smaller territory to go, but I suspect there is a cleaner and simpler way to do this that I am missing. Any ideas?
