1). Yes, they were one of the first of the Central and South America controls to gain independence... but by this time, Spain wasn't even that much of a military power anymore.
2). I would just consider this part of the Independence war.
3). Betrayed? how so? Besides, the reason for this war was the RACIST Mexican government began to persecute the American MAJORITY living in Texas.
4). I have nothing to say other than poor mexico getting raped by two of the biggest powers at the time (France and England)
