THE GREAT DEPRESSION – a historical simulation


Is FINALLY ready to launch (long it took, indeed)!

The year:
1933 – Every turn is one month, therefore turn 1 is January 1933, Adolf Hitler’s acquisition of the German chancellorship has just happened.

The setting:
Economic crisis has plagued all human societies across the globe – at least all capitalist ones… - neutral stacks on big bonuses represent the effort it will take to re-industrialize.

The countries:
40 players represent almost all state-entities of the time – including rebellions and warlords. The Great Powers are all reliable and skillful players that have earned their place in test-games.

The realism:
Local deployment, airlifts, sanctions and NO army cap. Industry and supply-chains matter. Sending 100% with an unruly second neighbor is suicide, border defense is a MUST!

The rules:
The Great Depression ™ uses a carefully tested own ruleset: The Trust-Point System (TP), which replaces the general Public Enemies (PE). It also has some general rules.

The feelings:
Several players will call this their last game on Warlight – let us give them a worthy farewell.

The organization:
The host has made a forum thread and in general knows what he is doing (famous for his complicated diplomacy series: WW1 – 1919 the aftermath).

RULES:

General:

- ONLY war declarations and territory switches are allowed to be posted in the public chat
- everything else has to be done in team-chat, PM and the forum-thread
- only the Great Powers are allowed to boot people. Doing so nonetheless lets you loose all your TP.
- you have to declare war separately on every player. It is not possible to declare on a team.

TP-system:

1. Every player starts with 1 TP

2. For every turn you are not fighting a war you have started you gain 1 TP (this also counts for PEs who can redeem themselves this way)

3. Declaring war costs you either
- 2 TP if you tell you will wait one turn and do so
- 3TP if you order your attacks the turn you have declared war and did not tell you will wait (even if you wait then!)
- additional 3 if you lie in the first case

4. Attacking without declaration costs you half your TP (round up), but at least 6 TP

5. Having less than 0 TP makes you PE until you regain your points

6. Attacking a PE does not cost you TP, but does not give you TP for the turn also (this is still a war you are the aggressor, even if the target is a scumbag!)

7. A TP list for every turn has to be posted in the forum thread (please do this if the host has no time or seems to have forgotten)

8. Gifting another player land that completes a bonus for the gifted player gives you 1 TP. This does not count for teammates and cannot be used to "generate points" by gifting and re-gifting between the same players. This generates 2 points by using at least one gift card in the progress!

9. Abandoning land that breaks a bonus for you gives you 2 TP. This option is not possible for players that are at war.

10. Sanctioning a player costs you 1 TP.

11. Eliminating a player costs you 10 TP.

12. Taking a territory from another player after an agreement (no gift cards involved) costs you 1 TP.


TIPS:

- Survival is the only thing that matters. Grudges will bring you nowhere.
- Wars should be short. If you cannot take the bonus you want quickly, peace out before you become an easy target for other powers.
